It was never going to be a ten metre wave hitting Hawaii. The 10 metre wave was the one that reportedly hit Sendai. The one currently hitting Hawaii so far is virtually non-existent, but time will tell.

Actually it was a ten meter swell headed for hawii, swell does not have a direct correlation with wave size however. Current estimation is for a 6-8ft wave to hit Maui.
