Whats wrong with getting more education, while looking for work, and keeping your current job? Do you want a career or a job?
IT is overcrowded, if you're thinking of joining this game, be prepared for a tough battle for every single job - the pay is not as high as it used to be either. You have to work your way up, you'd be very lucky if you can step out of uni and get a 60k job - knowing the right people helps, but then you're taking it from someone that has probably earnt that position.
