It was almost oil tight, but was leaking a decent amount of oil at the last oil change. The Haynes manual shows a copper washer on the plug, so I went to the dealer and they sold me the same washer.

I even dusted off the torque wrench to tighten the sump plug!
Yes should have a gasket, part number 3M5Q 6734 AA is what you should have got.
