Default Manual Conversion

I completed a manual conversion previously in my ea falcon and it turned out ok not great.

The issues I had where the computer and the reversing lights. Im wondering will I have this problem all over again with the au. I did a search and from what I have come up with it sounds like I will.

The question is can the car be run with the Auto ecu? If so how well and does it cost much for ford to set it up to handle the manual.

With the reversing lights are they difficult to wire in? I also have a cruise conversion as well but im guessing ill need extra parts now as well to fit the manual.

Im hoping its not all too hard so I can give it ago over easter

Give LG a PM, he just complete his conversion a couple of days ago with my manual ...

I have been using my auto ecu as it was the easiest way, just bridged the neutral switch and hooked into the reversing light. piece of cake

Yeah true but mostly e-series stuff and alot of people get their mechanic to do their conversion and hence dont get to see the wiring or issues that may arise during a conversion.

I plan on doing this myself so I know the job is done properly plus alot more satisfaction in saying I was able to convert it. Want it done properly you gotta do it ya self.

Yeah I see where your coming from..
Maybe give Malwood/Dellow Automotive a call and see what he has to offer?
The guys there are very helpful even if your just asking for advice and hints/tips etc etc.

I havent got his number on hand sorry.. I just had a look and cant find it.

I have been in contact with mal but a conversion done by him with a reco box is $3000.

I can pickup a full conversion from a yard with a box with less then 100k on it for $1500 and probably less if I don't need the computer. If I give it ago ill put up some info on it for future people who are crazy enough to take on the task

I did it myself on the weekend with the help of Big John my spanner spinner.. THe only two things I have to do are the reserving lights and cruise but I'll tak to my auto elec mate sometime this week

My mechanic wired up the reversing lights. Also another thing, is that when you use the Auto ECU, is to sort out the Thermos.

He ended up using the Manual ECU. All sweet, and it gets completely finished 2morrow, with the interior getting fixed up If you use the Manual ECU, you need to get it re-programmed/coded to suit your Ignition module and BEM.

Did you get the manual tail shaft too?

All I can say is..... Daim everyone is missing out, can't believe i didn't do it sooner.

Just on ecu issues, if you were to convert an Egas model to manual, would a manual ecu be suitable or would you run into headaches with the gas system?

From memory, the E-gas was a standard convertor, no injector system. Never seen a wiring diagram specific to E-gas; my suggestion would be that it's a standard computer, just not hooked up to injectors.....

Buuuut, gas flow is computer-controlled, as the gas system runs a stepper motor to control the gas flow (If memory re-calls' right)....
