Gillette V Schick Razors

I have noticed that Gillette Fusion blades are $6 a packet more than the top Schick blades. Which is better.?? because $6 a packet adds up. I am considering switching to Schick Titanium after many, many years of Gillette.
Any one have an opinion on Gillette v Schick ? Which gives a better shave, lasts longer etc ??
I know its a different topic from the usual topics, posted. But its interesting to get opinions on different things !!

Gillette Mach 3, Greatest invention in razors IMO. I don't see why you would need more than 3 blades?

Four and five blades are too much. Interesting to see Gillette's ads suggesting people to stop using the Mach 3 (nstead of their opposition's products) and move to their Fusion model.

been using the mach 3 for a few years, always shave after shower[softens hairs, better shave], and blades last a while, no cuts.

Gillette claim around 1:4 adult men on this planet use their razor. Hard to believe IMO but hey, even if they're nearly right they have the market covered.

Good product, lasts well and I haven't cut myself with one ever.

How long do you lot get out of a blade?

i have to shave every 2nd day and was using a braun electric shaver for a couple of years. oneday it was flat but (i forgot to charge) so i borrowed one of my old mans razors, and used it, (was a mach 3) and never looked back.

i went and bought a schick xtreme 3, and yeah been great. im forever using blunt razors though ahahah i did buy refills the other day of the 'sub zero' variety so ill give them ago, but i have noticed that the razor does clog up quite easy, which is mostly what this thread has said. so when these wear out.. ie in like 6 months haha ill go and buy a mach 3.

gillette mach 3 best ever smooth shave and even the site of water cleans it.
have the shick titanium waste of money, no gap in between blades to flush the hair out takes longer to flush the damn thing then to shave.

Have had Gillette Razors, Shick Razors, Mach 3, Fusion etc etc for a long time.

I thought just to see, i purshased el cheapo Coles brand disposable razors, i think it was $4 for a pack of 20.

Very impressed. Mind you i grow facial hair quickly and shave my head with no cuts.

I guess one of the main issues is to be able to flush the hair out.

i found the schicks were very smooth, they have a few wire strips accross the face of the razors and they slide so nice, however they got clogged up to easy, i used to only shave every 3rd day and theyd get clogged up way to easy and stop working

Had used Gillette razors all my life. Got sick of the price rises so I went for a Schick Quatro. Cut smooth, however they really got clogged so darn easy. In the process of thoroughly cleaning them, you stuff up the lube strip, which makes the shave only so so. At least on my face it did.

I went back to a Mach 3, but thought what the hey, and went to Fusion. Awesome product. Only takes a very little rinse to thoroughly clean. I'm sold! Less cuts than the Mach 3, in fact almost zero. I have curly and thick facial hair, so I can't really just shave willy nilly, need to press quite hard to get the job done right!

That is the same as my experience with both the Fusion and the Mach3. I'll never go back to the Mach3 again mainly because the only time I went back from the Fusion, I cut a chunk out of my chin that didn't stop bleeding for about a week. No cuts at all with the Fusion. I think those that love their 3 Blade shave haven't used the Fusion. I didn't plan on it until they were giving the Fusions away with the Daily Telegraph (which I don't subscribe to, but the Outlaws do).

Safety razor for the cost of a pack of fusion/mach blades and double edge blades 10 for a couple of bucks and they last longer than the cartridge blades! ... Better shave and cheaper...

Love the Gillette multi blade razors, currently using the Fusion Power with 5(?) blades and a aaa battery.
I cant stand the Schick. I received a couple of them during Movember a few years ago and the blades felt like they were blunt. I reckon the wires across them do more harm than good.

That's interesting because I'd been a long-time Gillette Mach 3 user until I ran out of blades one day and remembered the free Schick Titanium jobby I got during Movember. I don't know whether its the slightly larger head on it or what but I actually prefer it and reckon it does a slightly better job.

I have found them for around $18 at markets or $20 when on special at the supermarkets.

Just a tip... After using your razor, dry it as best you can (5 second blast with the hair dryer) and leave it standing up in around 5mm of light machine oil (like singer oil) or if you don't have that, vegetable / olive oil.

Don't know if it's BS but I have been doing that for the last year and it seems to have worked for me.

I have to shave.. a lot. One of the many benefits of very ethnic parents....

Wise choice.. If you have the patience you might cut yourself the first several shaves (weepers) but after that you'll see the results.... You don't need more than one blade to shave!!!.. I've got a couple of cut throats at home ready to be honed; just working up the gonads to use them!

Schick all the way coz they have the style trimmer on the end and it only costs $12 where the gillette costs $10 without the trimmer also i only use each cartrage 3 times only coz i shave once a week

And likewise yellow festiva, I have to shave a lot too. Some blokes at work here come in on a thursday with a five o'clock shadow having not shaved since monday.

Got the Fusion myself and quite like it. Downside is the metallic handle which gets all slippery to hold if you have shaving lotion over your hands. Inferior to the moulded rubbery grips on the other models.

Also, can somebody explain to me the technical reason why the "lubricating strip" is located above the blades? So, you get the lubrication from the strip AFTER the 5 blades have gone across your skin. Hmmm.....

Gillette Mach3 is what i use, have to shave every second day, having said that i dont change the blades very often because i usually cant be bothered, changed it the otherday and forgot how nice it is to shave with a new blade. Reminds me i need to buy some more soon!
