Hi,
Have a 2010 Focus LV and changed the coolant over the weekend. Undid the drain plug, and screwed it back in afterwards. Now there is a slow dribble from it. I'm guessing it is an o'ring that needs replacing. Can someone confirm and advise on how to remove the plug entirely. Thanks, James. |

Hi James
There is no mention of an o-ring on the drain plug (I presume it's petrol) and the instructions for draining only say to undo it and then tighten it back up. Having said that, the picture of the part shows a rubber ring on the new plug and I believe it just screws all the way out.

Genuine radiator plug looks like the below, part number 86AW 8115 AA. Does not look like there is a separate o ring?

Thanks Russell and GTLEGEND,
The part GTLEGEND links to is the correct part. Unfortunately the local Repco didn't have one and Melbourne is in Lockdown. Was leaking too much to leave it for a while. So, need a screwdriver to lever it out as it is surrounded by a plastic tube, the barbs hold it in otherwise. I had a general plumbing repair washer kit from Burnings and one on the rubber washers was almost the correct size. Pull off old washer, press in new one and trim slightly around the edges. Fits Ok and seems to stop the leak - fingers crossed. Thanks, James. |
