Default Setting up wifi at home

Hi everyone

Eventually want to upgrade to the ax wifi from the ac and also want the mesh wifi that covers whole property.

Have the following routers in mind and wondered which is best

1. ASUS rt-ax82u
2. ASUS rt-ax88u
3. ASUS rt-ax92u
4. TP-link archer ax73 with tp-link re605x extenders
5. TP-link archer ax50 with tp-link re605x extenders
6. TP-link archer ax90 with tp-link re605x extenders

If using ASUS what listed model would you use at the main and extension spots for mesh.

Also if you already got a wifi network at home wether it be seperate modem and router or modem/wifi router In one is it possible to plug another router into the modem/router to have a completely seperate wifi network just for you wether or not you have 2 mesh wifi systems

Thanks

tbh for home use I think they are all much of a muchness. How big an area are you planning to cover, how many users, and how much data transfer?

absolutely! Plenty of sites on line about network designs. Just google

having said all that though, after running wifi and extenders for years I've just ran CAT6 though the house. You may want to look at that, or Internet over Power as another option

So the cheapest or just a ax1800-ax3000 wifi would be good enough

car10002, with all due respect mate... Do you actually FULLY read people’s replies? (And not just this thread!)
The question was asked... “how large an area?” This would be a determining factor, I’d think

LOL...that is a kindergarten sized coverage area.

Be careful...every wifi hop/router halves your speed.

Just get an amplifier...about a 5watt unit from ebay should do it.

Just make sure your access point has screw on antennas and thats all you need.

Anything else is way over the top....

Get a router that supports VLANs. That will address your original question. I haven't looked at your list, but it should tell you if you look at the box / specs.

What dodgey stuff are you hiding from your missus?

in terms of wifi setup and networks a lot of the devil is in the detail. The 'best' router in a bad location may not deliver as good performance as something cheaper in a central, high-up location with no walls blocking the view.

if you want to go -ax make sure that all the devices you are planning to connect are backwardly compatible. Performance will be limited by the slowest device you have. ie the ability of an -n or an -ac device to receive the data packets, not the speed at which the -ax router sends them

Suggest you read some network IT sites. It's not rocket science but there are definitely a list of do-s and don't-s. Or ask the question on an IT forum not a car forum if you want a definitive answer

An important factor also would be: Is there much RF 'noise'. Anything including the old holden next door, the Channel 7 transmitter in the yard across the road, your other wifi tools, your neighbour's wifi.

A wifi analyser app can help with the last one.

I don't mind my Orbi, but I wish it had external antennae so I could put some high gain ones on.
