My buddy has some and he wants me to give it a go.

any advice on what it does, effects ect. anyone know anything or had it before? i asked wikipedia but it made no sence to me....

is it worth it?

where did the absinth came from? cause i got a bottle 71% alc from oversea, that stuff is crazy, but be prepared for a bad morning the next day

dunno whether anyone else posted this but the stuff you get here in AUS while high in alcohol content and gets you rotten of about 4 glasses doesnt contain the woodworm stuff thats in russian absynth which makes you halluicinate,

It makes your mouth taste clean afterwards, its not so bad unless you swallow it. Never tried Absynth though.

U'll have no probs drinking absynth then. The aust version just leads to a very bad morning. Doesn't make you 'trip' so to speak like the European stuff.

The real stuff, which i believe they arent allowed to sell in Aus anymore, causes you to have halucinations, sweet huh.. The Aus sold stuff is just a big kick and a hangover from hell.

I've had it in Prague while I was on holidays 2 years ago.

I refuse to speak of that incident, therefore pleading the 5th amendment that I cannot say what happened that night on the grounds that it may incriminate me.....

Seriously that stuff was just pure wierdness, I can remember it going in (it tasted strong) and now my cousin from germany laughs every time i talk to her... She reckons I was tripping/going off.

Awesome stuff isn't it Schnoods ... I asked nicely enough and was given the last two shots out of a "behind the bar" bottle at Temple Bar in Smith St Collingwood (after drinking Corona's all afternoon) .... I was supposed to work the next day across the road at Mayfields but ended up too crook to do anything but lay in bed and groan for 24hrs :

Yeah we have the "fake" stuff over here. My boss's daughter is overseas and sent a real one back here to one of her friends. apparently theres a way to drink it ( i dont know ive never had it), and if you dont do it right then it tastes like crap, but if you do it right, apparently its really good.

the bottle shop round the cnr sells Absynth (Aus. Version), it still comes from europe but it had something taken out of it and aint the real thing. think it goes for round $90 a bottle i have had one of those blue fairy can with is Absynth and something else tasted ok but nothing really special

It is oil of wormwood that gets you wasted on the french/belgian gear. Its ace!

Check out wikipedia, anyone that tells you they've had hallucinations on it are stroking it.

I think from memory the only reason why hallucinations were happening were due to excessive amounts of it consumed over excessive days. I think van Gough chopped his ear off while under the influence of Absynth.

I've had it once, not the real stuff just the fake imported gear. Can't really say the taste was fantastic.

Open for editing by anyone, not just those registered.

Absinthe, one of the drinks I stay well away from. Unfortunately its one of a few drinks that tends to make me go from happy drunk to angry drunk.

Your not supposed to drink Absinthe straight.
With ice at least, and only once it becomes a bit cloudy, if you drink it before its cloudy it takes like S*** , but tastes better once water or melted ice is added.

We used to have Chartreuse Slammers:
15ml Absinthe
15ml Chartruese
30ml Champagne
In a normal scotch / spirit glass

Drink it like a Tequila Slammer.
( Hand over the top of the glass, slam it on the counter so it erupts in bubbles and skull it down)

biggest tip...... dont down half a bottle of the stuff in 90 minutes...... i lasted another 90 mins before i chundered and i dont remember an incredible amount after that
