Talking [VIC] Calder this Friday night, let's race!

I am keen to take my new car out to Calder this Friday night (30th May) for it's first 1/4 mile run to see what it can do. I know Jelecevic is as keen as mustard to race for the first time.

How about we get a few members down to race (or be a spectator)?

The weather forecast looks good for Friday, top of 16 and a low of 6? How good is that for drag racing? :

So who wants to join us?

I'll be there. May not be racing though as the diff still needs a little more time to be run in properly but I'll be there none the less to see GTGTP run a few more passes. To be honest I'm a little gun shy after it blew at Heathcote for the AFF Nats, I'll definatly be hittin the track Agian SOON as I have a goal to attain but I need to get the confidents back that it aint gonna blow up every time I put it down there first. :togo: . There is a thread for calder this friday in the drag racing section and the Vic/Tas section, so there should be a few forums crew there. Look forward to seeing the new turbo ya got hit the track doug and a propper meeting. I only managed a nod to you at heathcote as I was trying to get the ute stripped and on the track for test n tune.

Cheers
Glenn

Would be great to see you guys there.

Come on Glenn, when I first put my 4.11 diff gears in on a Wednesday night and did 1000km @ 80kph in three nights and raced it at Heathcote on the Sunday.

Sorry we didn't get much of a chance to talk to each other at Heathcote, but it looked like you had your hands full. Glad to hear you got the diff sorted out.

Thanks I will check out the Calder thread, would be nice if we could run from the infield.

Oh it turned over its 1000 today but i wanna run a good 5 or 600 more which to be honest should happen this week no problem but like I said... oh who am i kidding I'll probably run it! just take it a little easier and abort any side stepping! :evil3: Infield would be tops but I dont think anyone has organized it. Not sure how to go about it either. Spooly if ya readin this what do we need to do to make this happen?

Calder website says I need an approved helmet, do they offer a hire service for the night? If so, how much ? I had a look at the rest of the website and found that they do for open practice, but didn't say anything on the off street drags section.

If they do for drags as well, how much is the helmet hire?

Hey Yabby, I am pretty sure they do hire them, but it's not cheap. At Heathcote there is no charge but you leave your licence with them.

Just get yourself a helmet at a bike shop, can be brought for about $80 and you will have it for next time. Cause once you race you WILL want to go again.

Hey xhxrsix, sounds like a weak excuse to me. :P Why not see exactly what you run without the re-tune then you will will be better able to know how effective the re-tune is. Have I convinced you yet? Come along and spectate if nothing else.

Exhaust woes have been fixed and I'm in. Probably just spectate this time I've never been to the drags before, but I want to run next month (27th) after I get other issues sorted. Will be good to hopefully get to meet some forum members.

What happened to "beautiful one day, perfect the next", they obviously weren't thinking about Drag Racing when they came up with that. lol

Was that mark or Mauz steering? I heard Mark got a 11.08 with him driving

10.8 would make it quickest F6 now?

Cheers Mark, I might have the same engine and auto but 10.8 is a LONG way off for me, gives me something to aim for but.

I am very happy though, just wanted to see what she would run in the same setup that I drove out of the car yard. I spoke to another BF turbo owner who ran a 12.7 with just intake and generic tune. It is amazing how much these Turbo's respond to mods. I am looking forward to having a 12 second car soon.

So how does it feel to be driving a 10 second street car? Pretty awesome I imagine.

I made my 1st pass (when i say 1st pass i mean 1st pass), 16.395 @ 140kph. 2nd run still poor but alot better was 15.773 @ 146kph, both runs with traction control on... forgot. 3rd run... traction off was 16.1 but masses of wheel spin. Im going to sort out a few mods and then have another go. I also was running 20psi in my rears, perhaps a bit too low
