Good news for ford europe, they get a 4dr coupe of the mondeo.
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-...ontent-block=0 If the fg goes well maybe this could be a cheaper alternative to a 2 dr coupe in the falcon line up? Or Not? |

They can call it what they like, i will never recognise a four door coupe as anything but a sedan.

I would call that a lift back or a 5 door.... Certainly not a coupe. the closest car i've seen to being a 4 door coupe would be the porsche Panamera Last edited by DoreSlamR; 10-06-2008 at 09:50 PM. Reason: added pictures |

that just looks like a BMW 1 series?
im with you guys, a coupe can only have two doors. the RX8 is a 2 door coupe, those little suicde doors arent really doors, you can only open them if you open the front doors yes? therefore not real doors.. |

A Coupe is a 2 door car with a sloping back, A 4 door car with out a sloping or straight drop back is a Sedan (in North America or Australia) or a Saloon (in europe).
So what are these do you ask, Pretenders, plain and simple. They are for people who want to have a Coupe, but for whatever reason they can't have it. As for things like the Mazda RX-8 well that's just confused.

That said, It does look like a dream, and will sell better than a coupe, does this spell the end for the affordable coupe? Oh wait that already happened when Monaro said Bye Bye.

4 door fastback saloon? Looks cool. please dont call it a coupe. that will just add another difficult bloker to the english language:
"I have a coupe" "really, how many doors?" "four" "I have a coupe too. but with two doors." "we just made another word meaningless didnt we?" "yep... may as well call it a car, they now mean about the same thing"

Hey! Let's disrespectfully reinvent a word to promote our sales!
It's a disgrace to all the classic cars that gave the word coupe it's reputation. Not to mention any 2 door really.

Modeo looks awesome considering it's a mondeo. Call it what you want.
PS that red porka in the photo above looks like a coupe in the same way that an eight legged elephant resembles an octopus. |

The closest a 4 day car can become to being a coupe is what Mercedes call CLS - Coupe Like Sedan. Still its not a coupe

To me a coupe is two doors at the very least. A better coupe has two doors and two seats though

as everyone has stated, the word 'coupe' has it's origin from the word 'couple' which means TWO. (although, 'couple' is often referred to as groups of things due to the effects of slang these days e.g. "gimme a couple of days and i will have your warranty repair completed")
Gahh.... looks good but!
