We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about. “Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”. |

There's a 20-30 year tecnology difference difference between Leopard 1 & 2, especially Leopard 2a6's. Besides Leopard 2a6 costs more than a new M1A2-SEP |

The 2A6 runs on Diesel so does the 'Aussie' Abrams. The reason for the M1A1 AIM SA Abrams purchase, was the deal from the US Government & Service interchangability / common weapons systems with 'Australias' greatest Ally since WW2. The Leopard 2A6 IS the best MBT (and shares the main gun with the Abrams, but the gun is longer and therefore more deadly). The Leo however doesn't have the 'runs' on the board like the Abrams, it's an expensive tank too !! ie: Up until now peacekeeping is all the Leopard 2 has done. If you ask me it looks the part though - definately. |

.. and guess who lend a helping hand in engineering USA's Abram M1 series?
It was the German firm Krauss-Maffei lol.. Abram's M1 smooth bore canon is in fact a German product. |

You watch the discovery channel and there are always documentaries about weapons. Some good info there and some of the tasks they put these weapons through to see if they are battle ready are insane. The weapons need to be tested to the nth degree.
