Just wondering how many other suckers are out there, trolling forums on night shift!

I work in mental health here in canberra

9:00pm - 7:30am

Fun times to be had by all!!!!!

I work all sorts of odd hours most of the time waiting for computers to do something, so whilst not really night shift it's close.

LoL, we're only supposed to do 2 months of nights, but im doing 4, other staff member busted his knee.

Mental health mate... drug em, they all asleep befor we come to work, and still asleep when we leave :P i am probably gonna watch that new Batman movie tonight.... :P

I'm on day one of 5

then have 3 off

then work another 4

then im OFF TO THE F1 Grand Prix! :P atleast mine aren't 12 hour shifts

Not so much a night shifty, but 3 out of 5 days a week I work till past 12.30. Which is why alot of my posts come in way into the AM.

Work in Mining, i,v been on nights for the last 2 months and I'm down for at least another 2 months on the roster, Thou that will likely get extended, which is fine by me as with the way it's all going currently ill take the $$ shifts every time.

On my week off ATM.

My night off today due to public holiday, I do night shift every 2nd week 7pm to 7.15am.

I never touch a computer when on day shift, usualy too many staff sitting around doing nothing while i do all the dirty work, yes, dirty work.

Night shift is a good break from the hectic day to day running of a Mental Health Rehab Facility

Yeah im workin tonight through the public holiday... but meh I only work 3 nights a week lol. I love nights, never have to rush to work with everyone else. And leaves heaps of time durin the day to sleep in. go to the gym, get to the shops. Been doing nights for about 7-8 years.

Public holiday? what's a public holiday? Rotating roster, just depends on luck to if i get to have the day off, or should i say, to work the public holiday

I'm Technically security where i am, just an extra man incase goes down that shouldnt lol

I also have to make sure stores are filled and theres enough stuff to keep the day staff from complaining..... something i've never managed to do... keep day staff happy :P lol

lol sounds like a bit of fun, but i tihnk i would miss working in night clubs. i dont need to worry about keeping anyone happy luckily. im about to head to bed though, just on 3am and im still rather run down after this weekend, was up for 2 1/2 days because of the all ford day, with work either side... so many V cans it felt like i was having a heart attack. :p

lol, its not the first time ive done that, and im still alive. i did think about going to the doctors though, i went to bed around 7 this morning and only slept for 3 hours, then woke up and couldnt sleep any more. hoping i get a bit more than that today.

im permanent night shift working for australia post.

i work 2 different times

9pm to 5am when sorting mail

and 10pm till 6am when on forklift

Been doing Nightshift for about a year now, shifts ranging from: Sun-Wed and starting either 8pm, 10pm or Midnight till 6am.. Thur, Fri, Sat off

Cant complain really, dont have to wake up early mornings to go work (especially in winter), no traffic to deal with, and can do whatever you want during the day

I live 30km from work, along one of the main traffic routes in Canberra, so even leaving work at 7:30 i cop all the Tradies going to work.... but going to work is always quiet

Edit: By the way, 8:04 been home for about 15 mins now :P gotta stay up to call GE Money , bed by 10, up by 5 , work by 9 :P fun

Yay I start tonight 6:45pm to 7:15am I work in a u/g gold mine as a drill fitter 4 nights 4 days off 4 day shift continuous roster

I'm guessing the Monaro Hwy. Are you heading from home on the Northside to work on the South, or the other way around?

I love the night shift (I'm in security). It's the easiest way I can study full time and get a 30-ish hour workweek. Shoehorning a social life in there is another story. Have to say, as much as I like what I'm doing, it's probably best I've only got 4 more years or so of this planned.

Actually the new Gungahlan drive extension > Tuggerenong Parkway , driving from south side into belconnen (not much further north to go in canberra) it's a straight drive for me, from my house to work i think i turn 4 corners lol

And yet with the standard of Canberra roads (and Canberra drivers), that'd still be the limit of my patience!

Which brings me to another point: How does everyone go driving home after work? I'm lucky to only live 10 mins from mine, but I'm knackered some mornings.
I don't disagree with the points Mr Hardware raised, but time on the road knackered's probably my least favourite job aspect.
