I had a look today at a Pursuit ute. Salesman said that the 5.4 litre engine is a big step up from the 5 litre. The old 5 litre only revved to 4500 while these boss engines rev to 7500.

Salesman I guess will do anything for a sale. Shame they arn't more accurate when it comes to what they are trying to sell.

I messaged him and said -

Um whats the go here? This car is clearly not an FPV GT-P, its just an XR8 !
I suggest you research what a real GTP is and even just look at the pics to see that this car is not even close to a GTP. You are selling an XR8 ...and for $37500 !!!!!

His reply was -

I am NO EXPERT! How come the engine number starts FPV....

The car is NOT MINE. I am selling on behalf of a business associate. Thanks for the message. I will check it out and amend if that is correct.

and than he said this -

Can you tell me exactly what it is? The owner is 70 years old. I am just helping him.The engine number starts FPV.... Thanx

He has now amended the add although it is still a bit expensive

70 year old owner of a BA XR8 with non-factory stripes?

Possible, but unlikely. Methinks someones telling porkies.

Just got this message from the seller :

Yeah, yeah.... point(s) taken. Mate this car belongs to my employers father. He just turned 70. Yeah, you're right mate I have had 4 very quick emails basically bagging me and the ad. Really sorry. I was trying to big note myself at work about being able to sell it for him.... I presumed it was a GT-P and researched them for him (the owner). He is the second owner and it had the GT-P badges (which aren't original now I've worked out). I never even realised the differences as you have outlined. I only saw one other one on eBay for $39.995 so thought that's what it was worth. He actually wants about $20K for it, maybe a little less. I thought I would sell it for $35K and really surprise him, but yeah .... BACKFIRED BIG TIME!! He never told me anything about it being an XR8 or a GT-P. My boss was driving it. His father is overseas and stopped driving in January.

I hope you understand it was a genuine mistake.

But that is what trying to make a profit is all about! I doubt he will sell it for the 25k he has lowered the price too, but If my boss told me he only wanted 20k for something, i would then put at least 1 or 2 though on top so I could make some coin as well, maybe this guy has thought, that he will set the price high so that he has negotiation room down, and still make some money out of it.

on a side note, he is a tool, trying to sell an XR8 as a GT-P :( then trying to sell a BA XR8 for 25k

I got an email back, saying
"Yeah *EBAY USER ID IN CAPS*. Not my car. Just found out. Chill out I have changed it"

only just found out? thought he'd been told already lol
