Should I be excited about gaining a front diff and losing torque - and how much extra do they think I'll be paying for this?

Yep, and I'm sure it will have perfect 50/50 weight distribution, like all Tauruses.....

I am more interested in FGII, and the info on the LPI Falcon in this same issue. My issue of Wheels got taken to work and sent to the Fleet Manager with post-its marking the LPI Falcon. Looking forward to seeing one on fleet!!

Have any of you guys actually driven a 1980s - 2000s American car?

They are the most ridiculous plastic, cheap quality cars I've driven (apart from Korean ones).

The annoying door chime / key in buzzer is a trademark in America. The older cars from the 60s and 70s are alright, but anything modern is far from reliable or of quality. Same applies to many American trucks like Freightliner etc.

Falcon is miles ahead of the Taurus.

Despite everyones protests (including purchasers at the showroom); if it is going to happen...it will happen whether we like it or not. I personally would prefer to see the Falcon remain as Australian as it is now, but; Sentiment has no place in economics.

Although...an AWD Falcon would be a tasty morsel to tune...

but who in the media will spring to the falcon's defense. Does anyone remember the attack the ABC had on Mitsubishi and how Wheels said that they (ABC) had been getting it wrong for so long.

3 pages that this oversized underpowered shipping badge will sell better then what we already have and in FWD too. The one they have on the front only puts out 300 kw at the motor. If that ever comes out I'm not buying it.

Looks the goods, not sure needs to be bigger/heavier than our current model though, besides twin turbo and torque at the low end is still down on F6

Can't say I am surprised. Been a long time coming and IIRC some, or most on here hypothesized / predicted the same. Time, and a bad memory may prove me wrong.

AWD, TT-V6?...well...even if it seems ordinary against an F6 now; there would be plenty of room for improvement & development I suspect. If it were lighter / similar weight to current Falcon (and all we were able to be offered from FoA / FPV) with AWD, I can see it being developed into a good gadget.

I have seen some good figures from Taurus SHO's.

next gen taurus is downsizing iirc, so will be alot closer to falcon sized. but its all conjecture and crystal ball gazing at the moment.

This month’s Wheels Magazine is a Falcon death special edition; brought to you by GMH.

While admitting that it is around five years away, there are six glossy full pages that effectively sink the boot into the Falcon. The sad part is that the Falcon iLPG gets two pages.

if it happens i hope they kill the falcon name. while 'falcon' has a lot of history it also has a lot of baggage, maybe its time for a new start for ford oz.

Totally agree. The Ford Falcon name is too famous for it's own good I reckon. So many people (who know absolutely nothing about cars - or care) seem to have the opinion that the falcon has no style, or is a boring family car. You know, not "trendy" enough. It's unique engineering attributes that we love it for mean nothing to the general car buyer.

From both a marketing and historical perspective, the Falcon name shouldn't be applied to an American designed FWD car. 56 - 57 years isn't a bad run...
