Default What's your movie car scene 'mistake'?

Time to have a laugh....

So what is your favorite car scene, where you've noticed a mistake?

Two of mine:

1 - Commando (Arnie) during the chase with a Porsche and a Sunbeam. The Porsche is wrecked on one side, then ends up 'as new' again, when Arnie drives it away!
http://www.moviemistakes.com/picture1783

2 - Diamonds are Forever (James Bond 007) when the Mustang enters the lane on two (right) wheels, then when it comes out of the lane, it's on its two left wheels!

What's your favourite?

There are so many!

One that makes me laugh is various James Bond movies, where cars driving on dirt/gravel have squealing tyres!!

Another is Bullitt - the black Charger loses five hub caps from memory...

Fast and the Furious - don't get me started.

All the fast & furious movies. 1/4 mile drag races with 10 gear changes per car, Black charger pulling wheelstands and smoking tyres at the same time. There are heaps.

Really which car?

Mad Max, well I've watched both that many times I could list a dozen errors per movie.

The mistake Io notice in a lot of films are flipped cars with no motor or trans.

Older movies, errors are expected. This is pre CGI and High def.

Todays movies should almost be fault free.

Which one is it where the guy is racing the Supra with his green (Eclipse??) and the computer screen indicated to the driver that the floor on the passenger side fell out...... must have sensors all over the body wired into the driver interface

Part 1 I think... I hear they are nearing double digits now....

Actually I think the computer indicated a problem with the manifold. As we all know, when manifolds fail the passenger floor falls out.

Yeah that's the first race in the original. The computer said he damaged the manifold. The bizarre thing though is why was the floor cut out and a seperate bit of metal put in anyway? Surely they could of thought of something better to come off.

Mad Max 2 - during the end chase when the driver side door of the truck is ripped off, you can see the head of a man poking up beside Max. Apparently, that was the director George Miller in the truck with him.

In the OZ film 'Malcolm' there is a scene where two VK Commodore police cars opposite each other have his (I think) his ice cream van cornered in an alleyway. Both police cars have double blue lights and polioce decal on bonnet....but one is clearly a Calais as has painted grille, alloys, lower door silver trims, hood emblem and you can just sear rear headrests.

1) At scene where the snakes are the extras dvd pointed out when he slams phone box door you can see film crew... and spielberg standing in his jocks as desert was hot
2) A dide shot of the driver... and to right Spielberg sitting in back with clipboard.

In the recent mini series "BIGGS" there is a scene set in 1971 where there is a XB wagon parked in the car port. Another small one, the HT sedan with the wrong period number plates.

Running on empty,at the start where the hg(?) monaro goes over the cliff, after losing it's race, you can clearly see it has a red 6 in it rather than the 8 it sounds like.

Matrix reloaded, all the cars flipped on the fwy have no drivelines in them, hollow shells.

In the Mad Max 1 MFP chase scene, just befor the XA crashes into the phone box, you can see the car has already crashed further up the road just before the caravan.

Nick Cage in Gone in 60seconds. He STEALS Eleanor and after a while sheet brakes down in the back street. He then has the KEYS to restart her.

Bullit, the amount of times during the car chase you see the same green beetle get passed is amazing! (it's the only other car moving as they go down the hills, each turn, bam there it is again)

I think the Mustang in Bullit has a 16 speed gearbox too. All he seems to do us change up gears for the whole chase.

Not strictly a car scene but the movie SPEED.

The bus jump over the unfinished highway overpass. Seriously

Does no one in Hollywood have any idea of physics, or even gravity

That TV show was a crime against humanity for doing that!!!

Not a car movie, but the "train movie" "Unstoppable", there's a locomotive that derails and falls over on it's side...and bursts into a huge explosion...a diesel powered locomotive...
The police are also lined up trying to stop the runaway train, and try to shoot the emergency cut off switch on the side of the locomotive down near the huge underbody fuel tank, and as they blast away, they're warned not to because of the fuel tank. My reply was "No, shoot the hell out of it! Blow some big holes in it and let the diesel drain out and the train will stop!!"

That Monaro in "Running On Empty" (My favourite film by the way) was my earliest introduction to movie mistakes.

By the way, go to moviemistakes.com and check out the mistake database...just search for the film you're after and it comes up with trivia, quotes, mistakes, etc, for each one.

The car insurance ad where they talk about replacing your written off car with a new one. Its a WJ Grand Cherokee on the back of the truck, but when you see it towed down the street the rear is of an older Suzuki Vitara!

I liked it at the end when the guy crashes into the wall and the car explodes the car is going at high speed towards the wall but you don't even have to watch it in slo-mo to see the car that explodes is just a parked car hahahaha
