are they renaming Bathurst as well or only "the mountain" which was only a hill until they built a road then a track around it ?

The name 'Monaro' was reportedly aboriginal for both 'Mountain' and 'Tit' - true story.
( i.e. Check out the Monaros on that!!!)

I am part of Wiradjuri mob, and although i respect its history prior to cars fanging around that mountain, it will always be Mount Panorama to me.

As for the name change, I was raised in Canberra. A lot of the suburbs have Aboriginal names, Weetangara, Warramanga etc. I have lived my life learning the odd word or two in Pitjinjara, Walpari, Arunda, Yolungu. All I will say is if it helps us all live in peace together then what difference does it make if it's the "Bathurst 1000" or the "Wahluu 1000".
