Disqualification is no deterrent, fines mean nothing, has no respect and doesn't give a hoot about his actions and consequences ... Let me take a wild stab in the dark and predict that he will do this again! I doubt jail time would mean anything either, so what next?

Traffic police from seven districts targeted one south east Queensland city in a massive road policing operation which saw 325 tickets issued in 14 hours.

A man speeding through a 40kph school zone at 114kph was drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving a defective vehicle.

The man also failed to stop for police conducting speed detection outside a Logan school on Wednesday as part of a massive road policing operation involving traffic officers from seven districts.

Police need one of those mobile car crushers for idiots like this. Stop him, bring in the crusher and crush his car right then and there, then after he's finished complaining about it, cuff him and lock him up.

On second thoughts maybe not, I can see a lot of potential abuse of that power where cars get crushed without justification just because some over zealous cop starts to throw his weight around. It's a nice thought though.

Crush him together with the car imagine he looses it at that speed and kids are playing in the playground and he kills your kid.

It's happened in Melbourne a few times kids have lost limbs and worse by drunkards racing through a school zone flying over a speed hump or hitting a gutter and end up in the schoolyard with a few kids scattered around.

I say lock them up on the spot with no bail so they can't re-offend

Unfortunately they will never learn and the people who you wish to set an example to won't learn either. The Law will never be hard on these people because the justice system is unable to cope with the numbers already.

The problem is imo is a social problem and a mental health issue, you only have to watch the news a bit and you see areas that breed people like this, broken family's, poverty, lack of education and opportunity all go towards this type of behavior, i would expect this to be an even bigger problem in the future.

Perhaps, but you have to ask yourself, is it wiser to treat the symptom or the sickness, i mean how many prisons can we build ?

It's not drugs it's marginalized groups (which leads to drugs/crimes). Which are created by bringing out the hammer. These people actually deserve sympathy and the "abusers" should be grateful they're not getting Adam Lanza on their doorstep for what they did to his life (physically ie dna as you can see). This is what you get for distressing, marginalizing and rejecting people from an equal shot at like for no good reason. Here's a solution how about don't do it and put your stupid problem hammer down? All those kids you bullied into mental illness to build your self image from in your school days are now entitled to your money if you're lucky. Moreso the house and wife you denied them by abusing them into the very illness that created those incapacities. Moreso entitled to put you in the same mental state and deny you the same quality of life you denied them.

If you're responsible for destroying someone then you're lucky enough for them to not destroy you back and deny you the same good health. I know quite a few people that would fall into that category ...... and they are do not behave like this. Also know a very few that have everything they want but are/should be locked away.

That being said, you will find there are a lot of screwed up people out there due to circumstance and the system, but perhaps this is something that has to be learned or lived through to be understood,

I was at the central coast last weekend.

Parked the mrs car in a council parking station. I noticed from my hotel that it looked like kids were skateboarding through the carpark. I thought id move it into the hotel, walked down and there is a ute parked next to my mrs car.

I see a guy walk from the adjacent bowling club into the ute, starts it up and completely scrapes the whole of his car along the concrete pillar of the carpark. Parked right next to my mrs car.

It seemed like he felt it hit the wall but he just gave it more throttle to get by, the car bouncing along the wall as it pulled out. He stops, seems like he could find the right gear, was revving it in neutral.. Gets out to inspect.. hes wobbling about, he stunk of alcohol and he says "scared the hell out of me", looks at the damage, then just gets in his ute and drives off. He was really drunk and just drove off.

Do people still do that? whats wrong with society. That bloke could have hit an innocent person on his way home or collected one of the skateboarding kids flying about the car park.

Here in Qld/Australia it will take weeks/months b4 he faces a judge and then there is every likelihood he will reoffend or get another slap on the wrist. What would happen to this guy in the USA or Japan or China? I suspect in the US & Japan he would be remanded pending a meeting with the judge and then going to jail, in China if he didn't have enough money to bribe himself out of his mess he'd likely be shot.

In Minnesota he'd be arrested, cuffed and taken straight to jail. He'd then have to hire a lawyer to try and get out and it could cost up to $10k in fees.
