Mustang SUV concept?

I'd consider one if it could seat 5 and had back doors.

Just read it is electric so no thanks, I wanted one that whines with a supercharged 5L (or 5.2L Voodoo).

I don't think the design language carries over as well as some of the other oddball SUV's like the Cayenne, Macan and Urus.

That large grille will be a big drag penalty for something no longer needed. I'd be curious to see the detailing there to see how they've overcome that.

I think it will all come down to price and cruising range and whether Australians are ready to go electric in a large SUV.
Maybe little ahead of its time, but these will be commonplace in 10 years or 2030.

What the Aussie market is screaming for though at the present time and would be hot sellers, is a Ford V8 SUV and dual cab ute.

Pretty sure it's already been confirmed that it's not coming here.

And I don't think Ford even have a V8 SUV anymore. Top engine is the 3.5 ecoboost in Explorer and Expedition. Bronco won't have a V8 either. Those days are gone.

According to Ryan Walkinshaw, the conversion market could be 10000 units per annum. The market is currently limited by how many they can convert.

But eventually medical technology will catch up, and actual enlargement will become cheaper than compensating.

I think they got over 300 in August. but have dropped off significantly now.

It's still only small numbers though. Ranger and Hilux will sell as many in 2 or 3 weeks as they will sell Rams in 12 months.

As mentioned previously we didn't RHD Mustangs developed just for Australia needs.
Oversized V8 American Utes are not popular outside of America, yes they do attract a modest interest here but not enough to warranty factory Production so conversion is required

Walkinshaw needed a $5 Million Grant to get things happening, I'm not sure how much profit they are making despite the Pricetag.

Point being the Mustangs are available for Ford Australia to sell regardless of volumes.

Looks great. There is a sub-niche of performance SUVs, or SUVs that handle, or whatever they are called. Territory had some of that appeal in the ride & handling. It would sell.

Porsche, Jaguar (including I-Pace electric), BMW X5. Things that get you quickly up a mountain road.

Basing on Mustang styling, well it worked for XR-XY Falcons after the Mustang was spawned off the Falcon platform. It would need a different name.

Ford US are doing really well with their SUVs at present, pity we don't get these here.

I know I'm late to the party on this one (been crook for the last week or so with vertigo, so couldn't even look at a screen), but I don't mind the look of that at all. Kinda reminds me of the Merc GLE Coupe. Which is not a bad thing at all.
