Anyone able to recommend a reputable smash repairer in the Sunshine Coast area that won't rip off a 19 year old female?
Daughters mazda cx3 had a wrestle with a wall and the car came out second best. Front passenger quarter panel, smashed headlight lense, loose arch mould and distorted bonnet. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Would it not be better to go through insurance for warranty of repairs if need to be.

Just want to get an idea of cost to repair first, then make decision on which path to go down. Being a p plater, her excess is pretty high to keep policy cost down.
Also, given she has choice of repairer, I'd prefer to go to someone with a good local rep, if possible.

From your description of damage and modern insurer tendencies in Australia, don’t be surprised if it’s a total loss. Worth having a prior plan in mind if this is the case.

Having said that, to be forewarned is to be forearmed, so appreciate the heads up.

I wasn't necessarily looking for advice on the cost of repairs on here. Not that I don't appreciate peoples input, just that I think it's part of the learning experience for my daughter to go through the motions of dealing with a repairer to get an idea of the costs involved with these sorts of incidents. And then going through the process of dealing with the insurance company, if it comes to that.
I do appreciate the offer of advice, tho.

insurance companies these days have a collection centre where your vehicle goes to, then the insurer farms them out to their own selected repair centres. Either bad time to ask your question since most members are on holidays or no one got any recommendations, also most repair shops will be closed for the next few weeks. Times have changed, a lot of small repairers are disappearing due to insurance companies standards. |

I can give you a rough idea of what it will cost you, the labour to remove and replace parts would be the cheapest bit, The paint and parts is where it gets expensive, I would say the headlight, fender, wheel arch mould and the bonnet (we don't repair twisted bonnets) would be replaced due to it taking less time to do the job over a repair.
Being a Mazda and if it its a late model, the headlight alone may be more than the excess, depending on what type of headlight it has some are as much as $4000, some Mazda stuff is cheap but if its front end they tend to be quite pricey. |

I was assuming the wheel had also made decisive contact with the solid surface (wall) and therefore an insurer would take in steering/subframe/suspension (one side suspension only) in the scope of replacement parts needed. Add to that an upper apron replacement and your bits cited.

Yep, Jeep stuff is horrendous and also hard to get (well here in WA), its going to get much worse now though, seeing we don't have any local manufacturers but we now have a lot of different manufacturers coming into the market.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation, barra! They seem to have pretty good reviews. And the big bonus is that they are not far away from where my daughter lives.
Cheers
