Thanks a heap John. Dave did the same thing... i downloaded it but thought it was out of date (it says 2003!)
Now - the timing mark on the EFs.. is that for TDC or IGN (ie: 10 deg BTDC) ? |

awesome.
got it in and it was already pretty close to spec - 32 though as opposed to 38. got it spot on with the vernier (yes, i tightened the out of the bolts). it idles like a beast! i used the aluminium plate under the ISC trick to stop the hunting, but it still idles rough. i have it on about 1100 so it isnt close to stalling when i put it into drive. havent driven it yet though.. bloody bracks. |

Did moving the cam to spec help the idle or make it worse??
and 1100, are you sure this is advisable!!?!?

dude ive had a 1521a i did the same as what i think you have big is best but untill you get the rev limiter lifted you wont be able to use this cam and the stock diff ratio is even worse id advise you think strongly bout this and go back to the 977b or even the 1636 just trying to help

highstall and chiptorque are next. not sure in which order. im thinking 2500 - 2800rpm but im not sure. as most people know i have already ported the out of the head and thrown 3.9s in the rear end.
walki, dont know if it helped because i never ran the car without dialing the cam in. thought i'd go the whole hog this time, even bought myself a dial indicator. it sounds ing awesome. ive never thought my 6 sound would like this! the hunting is completely gone with the ISC mod, well worth doing. |

to get the most out of a big cam like a 1521a, you really need to have either a manual, or a highstalled auto, both with some decent diff gears.

jase, how does it go now with the new cam? From reading the forums, it seems there are mixed opinions on this cam profile. Of course it will go better with the chip but how is it at the moment?

i think the biggest issue is that Jason can't drive his car too much.
there are a few legality problems for now

The rev limiter isnt really the issue 5750 is plenty of revs. Saying that Stockstandard pulls his to 6300, with the shift light @ 6000.
The main reson you need a chip is to correct the MAP signal. A cam with 217deg@50 will have a serious impact on the vacuum readings within the manafold and thus due to the MAP based load tables, this will throw out the fuel and ignition timing.

mmm high revs... my rev limiter kicks in at 5200... not so fun, good for my engine i guess, probably doesn't really need to rev any higher than that
