Default Erxhaust On Ea

Hey all, i am planning on getting an exhaust this friday.its all booked in and everything, but im not sure what the guy is on about.
he says that for the falcons we should go with a red back 2 1/2 inch instead of a lukey 2 1/2 inch.
i know lukey was purchased by walker but i still trust walker more than red back who i have never really heard of.
what have you got??

i dont think there would be a huge difference, depends on if you get a tri-flow muffler or a straight through, lukey i think is mostly press bent except for over the diff were it was mandrel, thats what i had on mine before with a tri-flow muffler, sounded nice until all the resin inside of the muffler must have burnt out then it got pretty loud, sounded great on idle though.

ask the guy which is mandrel bent and go for that. also ask if his putting in a hotdog and what muffler. imo dont put in a hotdog, makes the car too quite for my likeing.

I have a 2.5 redback cat back system with a hotdog on my ED and i think it sounds perfect loud enough to have a good note but not enough to attract too much attention from the boys in blue!!!!

A couple of years ago I purchased a set of Lukey extractors for my NC 5litre and the flange for the head on the LH side didnt even line up and leaked. Had to get an exhaust shop to fix it up. I had a look at them and theres no mandrel bends and the welds were really bad in some cases blocking off about 25% of the hole. Asked around at a few exhaust places and apparently Lukey is real crap stuff and most places wont sell it. No offence to anyone that has it.

funny, lukey is owned by walkers and they make the exhausts for holdens, check out the welds on those.... there perfect. either you got a dud (which is unlikely) or the guys at the exhaust shop had to do it and dont want to own up to the welds.

What system did you end up going for? What muffler arangement.

I run pacy comps, redback 2.5 cat and redback 2.5" single muffler exhaust, dead quiet on cruise and not to loud as to raise the eyebrows of the boys in blue.

thanks, took it a metal polisher, cost 100bux.

let the mufler wear in first, if your not happy with it tell him to change it, as for a sports system it would only have one muffler, if you went tri-flow they get louder after 100kms of driving, i felt the same when i picked my car up, tell him if theres a hotdog in the back to take it out.

Well i got my exhaust on today and to tell you the truth im not all that impressed.
its not really as loud as i wanted it to be.
he says that ea's dont really come out all that loud.
he also says that a set of extractors will louden it up a little.
its got a really nice deep not to it but it hasnt got the DB'S to back it up.
so back i go prob next week with $400 for a set of advance headers!
see how we go then!

Got mine done thursday last week.
2.5 inch mandrel bent with a tri-flow muffler. (no idea what brand) Got it done at Midas in Salisbury on Park Tce. When I first picked it up, I was very very dissappointed with the sound, but after a few days the muffler wore in & it has a really nice subtle note to it, & while cruising at a constant speed doesn't drone at all, yet it has a nice beefy idle. I'm very impressed with it. In a few days tell us what you think about it then, as it probably just needs to wear in. _2:

Cheers

Did you get one with a resonator or with 2 mufflers. I found both those two way too quiet, and went a straight through rear section.
