Default manual or auto?

hey guys. just a quick few questions. i'm rebuilding me 4.0l eb s and it has an auto behind it. i have the engine and auto out and was just wondering if the manual box is better than the auto? and if so how much approx does it cost for a conversion?

yep manual is heaps better than auto ive had em both- when my mates came for a ride they all said that it takes off like a commie a few minutes later i was at the lights against a commodore after that experience they were amazed and were yelling in my ear " omg it takes off better than a commie"

Changed my sons EB S-Pac from auto to 5 speed manual. Heaps faster and he is as happy as a pig in mud.

You can do more with a manual too!! You can hold a manual in gear for slightly a bit longer! Heljas will vouch for this!!

A manual is far more enjoyable than an auto. In my opinion, they seem to be better matched to the engine as well. I want a manual!

Go the manual for sure, did mine and picked up 0.6 of a second down the 1/4. Price ranging between 600 and 1200 depending on how much you can do yourself.

Manual is fun, but no doubt a stallie and shift kit would be just as fast and work out around the same price as the conversion..
I have a manual, as much as I love it, im sick of it, would prefer an auto with high stall.. I go through phases, ask me next week and I probably wouldnt consider an auto lol.
but manual vs auto with stall, imo theres nothing in it, the auto will be more consistant aswell if not faster than manual, but its not as fun and slammin gears around..

thanks for that. sounds like the manual is the way to go. so which is best for the falcon? i was actually about to get the auto checked out and get a few mods to it and a stall for about 1000. should i stick with that?

Go the manual. More fun to drive - especially around the mountains

It depends what you want to do with the car. Manuals are fun, autos are better. If you do a lot of higheay k's, I'd probably say the manual. If you do a lot of city k's, I would say the auto. If you are after extreme 1/4 mile times, I would go the auto. If you want to do lots of line lockers, the auto. Realy depends what you wanna do with the car.

Auto for anything except spirited driving through mountains and stuff. I have a manual car and although it's heaps of fun, its just too tempting to drive the tits off it constantly. My falcon is way faster, but it's an auto, and hooning with a 4speed is not quite as thrilling.

When I jump in my manual liberty I think 'YEA. IM A BOY RACER.'
When I jump in my auto falcon I think 'yea. time to cruise somewhere in a swift yet not excessive style'

if u want to eat, drink(not alko) and drive , like a few members back in the day then stik with auto. if you want to make your driving more exciting, go for a manual.

You can still eat and drive manual its just you get interrupted a lot and will look weird :

The worst is talking on the phone : whilst turning a corner and changing gears..

well righto then. i guess the box doesn't really matter, it's what you prefer. but if i was to go the manual what type of box do i get (gotta be able to hold 150/160rwkw) or, i got told that the highest stall you can put in the btr out off an eb is about 2300 to 2500, and if thats the case the cam would only just be in it's power range. so does any one no if ya can get a bigger stall then that? plus i just got the motor balanced with the fly wheel out of the auto so it is starting to look like the auto is going back in but i haven't rebuilt the motor yet.

On the subject of eating and driving. As far as I see it, there are 2 options. Option 1: Drive an auto so you can eat your food while it is still hot. Option 2: Drive a manual so you can get home while your food is still hot!

As much as I enjoy driving a manual Falcon, I definitely wouldn't give up my auto.

Same here!

And autos can hold the gears until the motor revs out Snyper. Just not in "D"
