We got notified at work today that Beatty has called a 9 Sept election.
Don't mind about the election, just that we're now in caretaker mode and all things that were approved last week will probably be rejected when we try to implement them as they "may be challenged if there is a change in government". Talk about making my life hard - I'm a Project Coordinator with a major infrastructure department. If we change parties then all our very senior management will probably go as well - we've got enough of them swapping depts as it is! Just when you train one, they leave!

Think yourself lucky we live in a democratic society, and we actually get a chance to have a say in who runs the country/state. :yeees: The clock is ticking for this thread!

There has been some interesting policies coming from a large party at the federal level regarding my industry (financial regulation) which has some dire consequences for the organisation i work for. Having said this, it's the nature of the beast. The toughest part to deal with is the fact that people will be voting on the "election issues" which the parties and the media decide are the "real" issues... i doubt poor old regulatory policy wouldnt even be factor in most people's votes. But like i said - its the nature of the beast working for an agency like this!

Democracies dont work cause someone always wants to be the boss. Communism would work if everybody was equal, but unfortunately in all communism, some are more equal than others.
Socialism, that would work except who's going to do the work to pay for it. Oh well, I guess as long as humans are running the world, nothing works, its every man, woman and child for themselves.

Thats your opinion and you are entitled to it.
Fortunately I don't have to agree with it. If I feel like using a picture to express my opinion, then I will! (Unless the Mods/Admins have an issue. Let me know!) If you have a problem with my posts, please feel free to report me. Cheers

My first impression after reading the first post wasnt 'oh another political thread that will get closed down' but 'gee the interrelation between the executive and legislative branch of government really causes problems for those long-term government department employees who are not employed as long as they hold a seat in the parliament'
I dont know if that made sense, but it does to me lol! : Basically, i dont think punkin was airing a political viewpoint, there was no mallace towards one party or another, the thread is about government not politics. Some people were nice and quick to attack her and tell her to get over it, but it seems for the wrong reasons. : Geez let another forum member vent her frustrations that the separation of powers in this country didnt exactly separate the government departments from the members of parliament, causing problems for those that have to still get work done in departments that, no doubt, someone else will complain about in the next thread. Jennifer
