Default aluminium keys?

over the last few years i've seen a few genuine ford aluminium keys belonging to X-series vehicles..... anyone know what the story is with them, and why they never became more common?

Probably glove box keys. I don't think aluminium keys are a good idea as they are too easy to bend/break

I have one for my landcruiser. I hide it up under the front end should I loose my keys, it does not rust.

They are awesome and have been around for around 10 years. I had a set cut for my XE. Off memory they were blue too, looked cool.

no, i'm talking about genuine ford ones, not the coloured copies you can get from virtually any locksmith
