Default anyone know a good place to get headwork done?

g'day

just wondering if anyone knows a good and cheap place to get some headwork done for my i6.

i believe i have blown a head gasket and i will probably need to get my head machined also. while its out, if i can get some work done to the head for cheap enough i probably will. and while im throwing it all back together i may aswell chuck in a cam.... (blessing in disguise?)

however, the budget isn't expansive when your at uni unfortunatly :(

so if anyone knows some good places to get some cheap work done in the south eastern suburbs let me know, it'l be greatly appreciated.

also, anyone know of any change over head joints? i know i can take mine off and get it fixed/worked, but if i can swap it over for an equivalent price that would be better - cause its less days my car is off the road.

cheers

umm, it was ~$500, the head was reco'd and a little taken out around the valve inside the port.
Next time i think i'd deffinately get a lot more work done, dunno if i'd go there or try somewhere more local.

hmm.. we want to keep it pretty cheap. contemplated dans ef xr head on the for sale, but its missing valve springs (and i expect valves?) and dont know if it needs machining. need to take it somewhere to get the valves done anyway...

$500ish sounds ok, a little high, but mine was way too pricy..

spoke to a guy named andrew from blackwell engines in berwick. he said $700 bucks would get me a full reco to my head..seats cut, valve guides, hone cam tunnel; along with some porting and polishing.. he and was keen to help me, offered good advice and seemed genuine.

i called a few different places and i got a few different opinions.. some people told me that there is no point in modifiying the combustion chamber.. that the only gains possible (in a sub $1000 head, with cam and extrators) would come from porting the intake and exhaust - and that the gains would only be minimal. is this true? anyone got any experience?

couln't get onto flowcraft... will pull their chain again tomorrow morning before uni

If you don't mind travelling to Williamstown, just a bit West over the bridge. Head Tech in Williamstown. Very competitive prices and great work at all times. I had my entrie drivetrain done there. Unfortunately I decided to go all out and not spare a dollar.

Mine was done by Flowcraft. Ported, Polished, Bronzed guides, decked, crack tested, multi angle valves and seats, new valve steam seals, $500. Take me down and I'll get it done for ya cheaper cos I know the owner.
