I'm planning on making this a pretty regular thing, so snuggle in and get set. It'll be looking at a range of genres and album releases, with the aim of getting abit of advertising out there for some young up-and-coming Aussie talent, as well as some older stuff that deserves a graceful slip into obscurity.
This week's feature is an indie new-wave pop-punk outfit known as the Red Riders. These Sydney lads really are one of Australia's most promising new acts. Their music is tough to comprehend. An odd cross between Brit Guitar-Rock, with definate overtones of classic Clash punk, particularly in the vocals. It's music that makes you want to turn the volume right up, jump and dance around. The lyrics are, admittedly, a little insipid, but this is confidently overcome by Deutch's unique vocals. The riffs are catchy, the deep bass rhythms are entertainingly up-tempo and provide a nice, dark backdrop, while the rapid hi-hat/snare work is to be admired. Their new album, Replica Replica was released nationally and has, by all accounts, been selling well. The new single "Slide in next to me" has been getting plenty of radio play on Triple J. At around $20, the 10-tracker is damn fine value too. Check out their website http://www.redriders.net/ If you know of an excellent aussie act that you'd like to appear, PM away. this gets put up on a host of other forums, as well a Blog, and with any sort of luck a few other sites. sorry HLC, but Sunk Loto have to be one of the worst live bands i have EVER seen.
I have had the misfortune of seing them a few times while on tour, and each show was pathetic. Check out punkhardcore.com.au for lots of up coming hard rock/punk/hardcore bands in OZ. |

what do you think of the new singer?
Crafter is now in Carpathian.. guess you know that though... It's funny how the "scene" got so huge thanks to IKTPQ, but now it is just full of morons, hopefully with IKTPQ new album they will get out of the current trend they set and start on another path, a bit more melodic metal-ish sounding would be goood :P |

He is a welcome move forward to prom queen also. As much as i liked old PQ the new stuff is amazing. Yeah carpathian are awesome also, althought crafter, the impression ive gotten is he is abit of a ****er, probably the reason he got kicked out of prom queen. Crafter is good too though, although marty was awesome when singing for carpathian. You got the new PQ album? |
