you have to find some good wholesalers or drop shippers. Those lists they sell on the net are useless.

Go to the E Bay website and there are tutorials telling you how to do it. Make sure you give the government their GST or they will get you. E Bay passes on your details to them.

ok so is there any one out there. that knows any really good wholesale stores. links.etc. im really keen to make this work. i understand that a lot of people are prolly not interested in sharing info because of thier own business prospects. but any help reccomendations etc. would be swell. im researching ebay a little atm to try and get a idea of what sells really well. that said my main interest is in fords and general cars... so id like to maybe start small with something like spark plug wires etc. and build up from. there. however this is going to be a joint venture between my self and my mum so i will research plenty of other options. cheers guys. keep the info coming...

The ebay forums are a wealth of information on this subject....all the EBay store sellers talk on there a lot...they seem to know pretty much anything on Stores...you'll get a heap of Wholesale sellers links on there.

I did look into buying stock from the listers on Alibaba.com

However I think its not the best option. Im soon to open my own online shop with my own website, I would not want to be a slave to Ebay.

I saw what was on offer from Alibaba, and the "wholesale" prices in some instances are FAR FROM wholesale.

I ended up contacting a supplier direct, that is not on Alibaba, and got my stock for less than half the cheapest alibaba wholesale price.

I think there are many people on alibaba who claim to be wholesalers, but they are just a middle man, making your orders for you from the real wholesaler / supplier then just passing them off with their own profit margin.

I don't have an eBay shop but have bought and sold a few things on there. My thoughts on the subject are that most buyers are searching for a bargain, the cheaper the better so very important that you know your prices and don't pay too much for your "stock" in the first place and that you are competitive with your selling price. No good trying to sell DVDs for $20 if they are $15 in shops or other auctions. And just because someone says they are selling you stuff at "wholesale" price doesn't mean the price is "wholesale", do the homework yourself and find out what it is selling for and where else you can buy it and for what price. A lot of the stuff on eBay is cheap asian imports or seconds or other soiled/slightly damaged items. That is why they are so cheap. A lot of the time the seller leaves this vital information out. And don't rely on eBay to help in any dispute resolution. EBay admin and most of their policies are crap and are of no help.
