sort of back on topic, my pre store manager had a rebadged vr lexen. the only way i could tell it was a lexen was when he gave me the key and i saw the toy symbal. he said it was much cheaper than buying a 'real' vr.

imo keep to what it is! i didn't get fpv seat covers for my ea because it is not a fpv. not that i can see them on a gt-p, but i just think a car should be what it is. hope that makes sence. :

yeah. just say sum1 has a stock car or sumthn and then sum1 blings it up like the performance model. then this "performance model" gets owned by a shit car they go to all their mates "i beat that car and it was hotted up" and just gives the good cars a bad rep. like GTST skylines wit GTR badges on it. looks good but when they get owned just gives the GTR a bad rep. or falcons wit FPV badges and bodykits to look the real deal but arent and commodores done up like HSVs. of course sum ppl would b able to tell the diff but the majority of ppl who think they beat these "replicas" have shit cars and have a lot of dumbass mates.

Ive seen it done on 1 or 2 VY utes around here, and i dont like it. On some I like it but on others i dont, it depends on colour, the size of the badges too etc.

However it is (and i shudder to bring this up, i will cop shit for it but oh well), no different to me putting AU3 Futura Badges on my EF. I did it cos i liked them, and cos it was a Futura so i wasnt making it out to be anything it wasnt. LS1's are a Chev derived engine so in theory there is nothing wrong with it.

But stuff theories, all it comes down to is whether you (owner of car) like it or not.

I'm not a fan, as far as I'm concerned it's like me putting a Jaguar figure on my Falcons bonnet. Sure they're made by the same company, but a Holden is a Holden and a Chev is a Chev.

I am strongly against Chev badges on Holdens. The car is designed and built by Holden, just because it has a Chev engine does not qualify it for a Chev badge IMO. VL's have Nissan engines but I don't see any VL's getting around with Nissan badges on them.....
And as for trying to make something that it isn't, one of the stupidest things I have seen is 'NVDFPV' number plates on a stock looking EB.

Ha ha, good one. Designed and built by Holden?? NOT!

When was the last time a Commodore was designed and built from scratch in Australia? And no, the latest Monaro's isn't 100% designed and built in Australia. The All Australian car indeed.. pfft.

thats because if its such a good thing, the VL owners wont want to admit its made by nissan...they'll always say its holden.

if it was shit, and un-popular, they'd be saying they're only shit because of the nissan engine ;)

Don't worry Honer, I got your back mate. I laugh whenever I see a Chev badge on a commo. Especially a crappy old commo. It would be like me goin out and putting a Jaguar or Mazda badge on me EA and tryin to tell people I was Hardcore. Heh.

Waity.

Weren't there a few Falcon utes rebadged as Nissans in the eighties?
And what's the deal with Bluebirds badged as Ford Corsairs?

my mate has got a 280ZX. its got nissan and datsun badges on it (had a Zed badge on it but got badged). im pretty sure they badge a car mostly by wat the shell is. but in this case it was badged datsun for the shell and nissan for the motor. also i think u badge a car according to what is more likely to sell. the VL is a commodore therefore badges a holden. exporting the monaro to the US. if they had of badged it a holden every1 would b like wtf is a holden so badged it a pontiac. same wit the Uk so they badged it a vauxhall.

That is NOT what I was implying at all. Do you have to be SO specific?
I was trying to say that Chevrolet did not have any part in the design and production of the Commodore, apart from supplying a V8 engine. Therefore the car itself should not be classed as a Chevrolet just because it has a Chevrolet engine.
As for a 100% Australian designed Commodore, well, we don't have long to wait now (VE). :thebirds:

the commodore is simply a rebadged opel with different bumper bars, and opel is the same company as chevrolet, same as fordmoco is the same company as Ford Australia, and ford Europe. its just that GM choose to make a different 'brand' for each world location, its marketing, that is all, its only a facarde and it obviously works

haha, you actually seriously think the VE will be 100% australian designed? some people will beleive anything holden spits out in there "australia means a great deal to us" advertising campains
