Thought i'd start this thread to ask about your favorite "trippy" films you've seen....
Quite a few years ago, i saw a film called The Cube, and only a couple of days ago, got my hands on the sequal, The Cube 2 - Hypercube. Extremely interesting to say the least. Anybody else seen these? What did you think? |

I watched "Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind" a couple of weeks back, it was different. I don't know if I'd watch it again in a hurry, very interesting/unusual plot though.

Another very odd type film would have been 'Catch 22'. It was made in the same era as 'Clockwork Orange' and '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Is it just me, or do just about all Kubrick's films come under this genre.

M. Night Shyamalan’s movies I really liked (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Villiage). Although I have to say the mystery around this director makes his movies even more thrilling (if u believe the story about him to be true).

Donnie Darko and Butterfly Effect get up there in "trippy" films.
The rabbit is Donnie Darko is freaky. And both films need to be watched sober, as i discovered. I was spinning out, I thought someone kept changing the channel on me or something.

Equilibrium is a great movie. Good storyline and great acting all coupled with some phenomenal fight scenes make it one of my all time favorites. Its one of those movies that only 1 in 100 people you talk to will know about but you can be sure that if they have seen it they absolutely loved it.

There's meant to be a third Cube movie coming out/already released.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas rocks. Spun was wierd (haha drug movies) Butterfly effect was trippy...so was Donnie Darko. I never thought I'd like it, but A Dangerous Mind ?(Russel Crowe) was quite good. Any of the early Peter Jackson schlock films eg Bad Taste etc Brain Dead (love gore films)

Although Memento (guy pearce, the movie is kind of backwards, literally) isn't really that 'trippy' but I thought it was very interestingly done and you did need to pay attention to figure out what was going on. |

has anyone seen Dogville, with nicole kidman
that is one disturbing yet cool movie. i had to watch it for uni, and i was blown away by how good it was. the whole movie is set on like the set of a play or something like that, just a big square block that represents a town, the houses have no walls people act like its all there. the ending is awsome aswell, very powerfull

These are movies that i would say are not the norm and interested me a lot.
Equilibrium Donnie Darko 12 Monkeys 2001: A Space Odyssey PI Brazil EraserHead - Wouldn't say interesting but really weired secretary Irreversible - That one scent (the controverisal one) was just a little too graphic for moi Vanilla Sky Chinatown Requeium for a dream - A very good film. Every kid should have to see it to see the concequences of taking drugs.
