Default Hardtop revenge bathurst 2005

Did anyone get pictures of the coupes going around bathurst on Sunday morning, we had hoped that it would be on tele but good old channel ten showed how to build a supercar gearbox instead. :

Mate of mine was involved. He's got the No. 1 XC Cobra Moffat replica. Haven't spoken to him yet, but he was supposed to do some laps with Moffat and others. I'll ask if he's got some pic's when I see him Friday.

I know my Bro in law was a part of this, I know for sure that it wasnt on tele. He should be back home tonight, so when he reads this, if he got any pics Im sure he'll post em up. I won't bore you with my sob story as to why I wasn't out there, though I would have taken a fair number of pics of the hardtop revenge if I had of been there.(aaah well no sense whinging about what MIGHT have been)

The wife and I went round what a buzz! With the track in full race trim I still have a smile from it, We took a video as we went that has lots of dash pics in it but it would have been nice to have a photo from the crowd point of view as well. The whole event was fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat, just to see all the coupes in one place, most of the people there were freindly, and appreciated everyones cars for what they were and not picking holes in things hopefully someone will have some from the crowd pics.Talked to the bloke that had the law follow him into the showground it was nothing serious but boy didnt the stories travel fast.

I think your car is in this shot. Unfortunately I didn't get a shot when you drove past us in the chase - too many cars so my camera could not keep up!

I have 33 pictures in total. This is the only picture I have of the sandstone biege XB GT.

One of my primary school teachers used to have exactly the same car in the early 1980s (Mrs Sheppard) but it was a sedan version. She had that car for many years after I left that school as I used to see it parked out the front all the time. I bet she sold it for peanuts in the end.

The two Cobra boys up front gave it some, given the lack of pace car. Imagine how fast it went for them!!!

For those who are not aware I am Wulos's bro in law.

I did go to the event and it was bloody awesome. Driving around the track with the track setup for the race and thousands of people awaiting the V8's an hour later was a great rush. Something ill never forget.

Waiting in the marshalling area for the event behind the national motor racing museum we were all briefed on the drive ahead of us. We were asked to drive in rows two wide and asked to stick to a speed limit.

I was amoung the first on track. Probably about 5 cars or so from the front. We get out on track and find no avesco pace car waiting to lead us around. The guys in front of me let the excitement get to them and took off hell for leather, only stopping to perform a few burnouts for the crowd on the straights. Not knowing what to do I kept up with the lead bunch and looking back could see the rest of the 50 or so cars only just entering the main straight. A bit lost I decided to take off and enjoy the lap. I took it pretty easy up the mountain and across the top enjoying the scenery from inside the track. But turning onto conrod the yellow XB in front of me tromped it and so did I. Probably doing around 140km/h (wasnt game to do more due to no insurance if something broke) down conrod we slowed up at the rise under the GMC sign and cruised back to the pits. Awesome fun.

As for pics. Ive taken several hundred of the event and I plan to put small versions on my website at www.gtfalconpics.com. I want to make all pictures I have taken at this event available to all other hardtop revenge entrants to get as many pics of the event out there to those involved. I am leaving for valla tomorrow so I wont have time to edit them all and get em online beforehand. I will put em up sometime after monday and post when they are ready.

He was passing on Saturday and Todd told him to bring it in and put it on show unfortunatly he was not entered in the event. The photo would have been taken at the Bathurst show ground. You should have heard the sound of all the coupes warming up in the pavillion on sunday morning, I could not hear my old girl running kept looking for the alt light to make sure it had not stalled.

Was it a grey haired bloke driving the car? If so then it would be the same car I saw on Monday morning a few hundred kilometers south of Bathurst.

Some of the pics from the event are up. Go to www.gtfalconpics.com and enter the special events section of the site.

I would also like to make an offer to any hardtop revenge entrant to swap images with me and others to maximise the photos we all have of the event. Anybody interested email me at webmaster@gtfalconpics.com
