The service advisor ran me through the invoice and proudly pointed out that my Sat-Nav had been updated for no extra cost. Apparently, I now have Sat-Nav on my povo-spec Ranger XL. I said nothing, I didn't want to upset the apple cart. In this case, my Ranger was in for the 105,000 km service.................with 37,770 km on the clock. 105,000 km / 84 month Capped Price Service - $163.01 Gasket Drain - $12.98 Oil Filter - $16.60 Washer Solution (which I now have to remove) - $4.05 8.6 Lt of Castrol Magnatec Professional A5 5W-30 - $128.57 Enviromental Levy - $25.00 Shop Supplies (that must be an expensive paper towel) - $22.50 Total - $372.71 Sat Nav Update - No Charge Customer Survey - No Charge (sure as hell not paying Ford for my opinion) Service Activated Roadside Assistance - 0.02c (lol) Labour - $163.01 Total Parts - $33.63 Total POL - $153.57 Total Sublet $0.00 Total Misc - $22.52 Total Tax $37.27 Total Invoice - $410.00 I will say, there is some value in the Ford system as they provide 12 months of roadside assistance, and Sat-Nav updates (if fitted ). You also get PCM and other electronic updates if applicable that are not privy to independent mechanics. On my father's Wildtrak, if the car was serviced outside of the dealer network, the failing oil pump situation wouldn't have been picked up or rectified (this is a dealer bulletin for a certain batch of Bi-Turbo engines that requires total engine replacement). If I had the time and skill, I would do the job myself, as it is I won't be doing this sort of thing without a lift.

Maybe that's why they only charged me 0.02c for the job.

I know the service is a little bit more than oil and filter, but not much more, and its 8.7 litres not 10.How long have you been servicing cars?

Hey 8.7 is more than 6, serviced enough in my time. But like I said Ranger servicing pricing is lot better than others, that much I do know.

Had mine out at 15, dentist had to call an ambulance and take me to hospital.
He couldn't stop the bleeding and one wouldn't come out, so had to be done under general anaesthetic. Don't mean to scare you or anything:

I had three of mine (one hadn't/hasn't erupted) removed in the chair. A longish procedure but no pain or discomfort and I was eating spag bol for dinner that night.

I really feel for ya, just finished my dental work last month at a cost of $7,000 which was catchup for my fear of dentist's.
I did not realise I have dense bone and getting extractions is one very painful process, hopefully no more for me. Best of luck. |

I had all four out in the chair, not in the same sitting. Three came out relatively easily, but the last one ended in a condition called “dry socket”. It was took about a week and another trip to the dentist to get over that.

There is a large roundabout nearby, not particularly busy but large in 'diameter'. Less than two years ago it was completely resurfaced. Now it has been completely torn up as part of a larger redevelopment which they must have known about when it was resurfaced. There was nothing wrong with the original surface that I could see, certainly nothing that needed immediate work.

"We" funded a redevelopment of the local art gallery to the tune of several million dollars. Then a few years later, they decided to build a brand new 40 billion story eyesore that cost many more millions to develop. Very few in town wanted the bloody thing, but no, we got it anyway because it would be "good for tourism". Meanwhile, the people who actually live in this dump of a town drive around on battered roads, have poor infostructure and shoddy bin collection system no one asked for.

I remember Alinta gas tearing up the whole street outside where I worked at the time to lay some gas pipes, once they had finished and laid the new asphalt, within weeks the water authority dug up the same spot to lay water pipes?
Its just typical of government run departments that could not organise to complete the jobs needed while the hole was open, then its loaded onto our bills to cover this incompetence, that I would say happens every day this country over. |

It happens in domestic construction now, too. The “developers” can’t schedule works neatly (efficiently) and nobody will get on the hand tools when that’s actually the quickest way to a result. It’s near doubling a lot of build times.

Worked and lived in Brissy for 15 odd years before I finally saw Coronation Drive finished and not dug up for more than 3 months.
Bit like the highway way back going into Swansea NSW from Sidders, one driver swore he had never seen it not being dug up and he retired while I worked there. Wouldn't have been too bad if it was just a feeder road but it was the Pacific bloody Highway, the ol' DMR at work Last edited by tbro4123; 05-11-2023 at 09:00 AM. Reason: spelling |

Just outside one of the entrances to the local park, someone has dumped several sections of steel temporary fencing and some timber, completely covering the footpath and extending onto the road. They could have taken the steel to a scrap metal dealer and got rid of it legally. Too hard.

People thinking they and their time are important than everyone else.
This evening I pulled into a servo. Pulled up behind a lady filling from 2nd bowser, car at bowser #1 drove off as I arrived. Waiting, waiting. 3 more cars pull up behind me. I looked across and the same situation was occurring beside me..... free bowser, busy bowser, and a few cars waiting behind. Then comes the important guy. As the lady walks off to pay, this guy drives through the gap and reverses his car in front of paying lady. He only just got a leg out when I told him I had been waiting for the lady you have just blocked and now I will have to wait for you and thats not going to happen. He didnt argue which was nice, I didnt want escalation. But, smack my head, he moved his car in front of the other queue. I mean, I just couldnt do that....how does someone have such nerve? (Friggin lady took so long though, he almost bet her out ... if she had moved her car after filling all could have been avoided, so she sucks too) |

But funny you say this....last week, same servo, I filled and moved out the way so next person could begin. When I went to pay the $108.69 the cashier asked for $45 and change. I said No, mine is much more than that. He tried again and asked for same lower amount. I said check again, pump 2. He said that one is still ticking over, I explained what I did, he looked confused and again asked for the $45. Okay. And just as I went to tap he held his hands up and worked it out, $108.69. I tried to tell you. Blank face, no thank you, no apology. I don't really like most people. |
