Default A Road rules Question

Hey all

Basicly i have a question to do with the road rules and who has right of way.
Let me explain the situation, you and another car come to a cross road.
Both heading in opposite directions. There is a stop sign for both of you, and you both wish to turn right. As in i am crossing to the furthest side of the road from me and coninuteing right, and he is crossing to the closest side to me and continueing left.

Who has right of way and who turns first?? At traffic lights i know you both go at the same time, but i feel that at cross roads there is not allways sufficent room, and i was wondering this so if something were to go wrong i know i wasn't in the wrong so to speak or better yet avoid being in the wrong at all.

Thanks
Pat
