Lightbulb The Human Race

So this may be pretty deep but i'm interested to find out what people think of the subject.
Had a family dinner tonight and got talking to my uncle who has a doctorate in geology and also very clued into a lot of enviromental issues and subjects.
We got to talking about global warming.
He was telling me, that, at the rate we are going now the world will be a very different place in just a few hundred years. It already has changed in the last 50 with small islands dissapearing etc.
At this rate, It's hard to see the human race or any living creature survive thousands of years let alone a few hundred.

so i ask the question.
How long do YOU think the human race will last?
