Ford TX5 (1993) - idling speed & possible damage

Hi Ford fans

I'd like to try something new regarding my car's REV counter which falls so quickly after each gear change (it's a manual, '93 model).

Two questions which involves the idling speed of the engine:

1) is there any risk in making the car idle too fast? Any possible reason that it can't be good for the engine?

2) and finally, what should the correct idling speed be for a '93 TX5? I know this is a hard question to answer, since it's basically a screw you need to turn.

Thanks everyone. I just want to find out from you guys (& girls) if there's any risk of damaging my car in changing the idling speed of the engine.
