Default Pedal Extensions?

OK folks here's the dilemma. We have 2 cars, one a FG G6E-T and an AU III XR-8 Ute.
The ute is a manual and the wife has "duck's disease" ( i.e. short!) so when she is comfortable behind the wheel of the ute she has trouble working the clutch because of the distance.

Do I?
1. Trade ute for an auto (rather not, like the thing and can't really afford it just now)
2. Fit some of those ricer type pedal covers (might work, only need about an inch closer)
3. Get taller wife. (this would work out expensive, trust me )

So, option 2 looks to be best fix in short term.

Has anyone had any experience with these? Are they dangerous/illegal? Will they extend the pedal enough (1 inch)?
