Default Ford complaint

I bought a ford Explorer 1996 from Ford Artarmon in Sydney 2 weeks ago.
I found that is was using coolant at some rate. I took it twice to PowerFord Castle Hill who on the second attempt said it was a blown head gasket.

The vehicle had had a broken timing chain and all this had been repaired by Ford (head gaskets valves etc).

The car is over 10 years old and no warranty was given in fact the offer of a 3 month warranty was recinded because of this fact.

My questions are:

Are the repairs done by Ford guaranteed at all ?

Does 7 hours of labour sound like a reasonable time to extract a gasket to see if that all that is at fault or is this the time it takes a first year apprentice?

Considering that Ford only sell used cars that they would sell to family I am feeling that this family is a bit dysfunctional ?
