Default New Wheels

Well Ive made up my mind I can't put up with the tacky old Cheviot turbos on the RS any longer & decided to lash out on a new set of superlites in Platinum. The only thing I can't make my mind up on is wich size? I am running 13x6 at the moment but am thinking maybe 14x6 might be better, don;t want to go to 15s as I have seen some with them on & I don't think a low profile realy suits the stile of the car & a lot of my running is done on country roads which can be ruff at times any feedback on what fits & works would be great
cheers Reg

G'day Reg,

I have 14 x 6 Superlites on my car, they were on it when I brought it running 185/60 and wish they were either 13's or 15's. The main reason is the and lack of dish on the rim and the choice of tyre and the fact that they don't fill the guards at the rear which is the look I am after. In 14's, there is little choice of tyre, usually just 185/60's and 195/60's, if I could get a 215/50 it would give do the trick. I have seen many escorts running either 13 x 7 or 15 x 7 and look awesome. In 13 inch you can get 205's, 15's go a 195, but the dish of the rim looks much better and gives the car a nice stance. If I was in a position to replace, I would jump at 15 x 7 and run 195/50. I am not sure if you have seen the following websites, but have a look and track down some photo's of others cars to help you decide.

I agree with the above, there are so many cars running 15" 195/50's the volume of tyre choices are much broader. For now anyway.

Thanks for the imput feral but i don't think i could bring myself to put 15s on ive looked at lots of pics & they just seem to have to much wheel & not enough tyre for a car this age. I seen a mk2 wearing 14s yesterday & was quite impressed with the view side on but from behind the 185s looked sooooo skinny that it turn me off them. talked to my tyre bloke today & he said sorcing 195 or 205/60x14s would not be a problem im running 205x13s at the moment so the I think stick with tradition & run 13s but make them 7" its just so confussing ahhhhhhh, anyway heres how she looks at the moment

OK I think I might have changed my mind again to I hate to admit 15x7s 205/50s on the rear & 195/50s on the front on the front, man this is difficult & ive got square eyes from searcing the net for pictures

I don't think you'll regret the 15's, and it looks like you might be able to twist Sterlings arm to buy your olds one.

Well its going to be 3 weeks before my new wheels turn up & that was lucky. turns out they only make a run of them when they get enough orders & they have just got enough orders, so anyone else thinking of a new set of superlites now is the time to do it!

Ive been chasing prices on super lights for my RS,I was originaly going for 15" but may be going for 16" now.

What model/colour did you get 10 or 8 spoke?

And roughly what did you end up paying for them

Gday Dave
ended up going for the 10 spoke in platinum, $215 per rim. I don't like the idear of big wheels on a car of this age personly, & i thought the 10 spoke looked more squat then the 8 spoke in the same size

OK
Here she is, the tyres are Bridgestone adrenilins 195/50s front 205/50s rear 30 bucks change out of 1.5k on the car. The ride is a bit harder & there is a few more rattles then the 13s but man is she ever glued to the road & i think they do suit her
