Just a couple questions I need to replace my AU 5.0 auto tranny can I use an auto out of a 6cyl
Also will the xr8 adaptive shift 4 spd auto work with my std 5.0 power/econ tranny or do I need xr8 ecu as well to control it's shift points

Thanks I kinda thought it wouldn't match ,would an xr8 with adaptive shift be ok for stock Fairmont v8 swapover...only difference is the econ/power settings vs adaptive shift

Adaptive shift is just a program in the ecu. Trans are identical mechanically.

So I could use an xr8 auto one no worrys and leave my stock 5.0 ecu to work out it's shift points,,if worse comes to worse I'l grab an xr8 ecu an instal that..would that have a better 5.0 tune on the xr8 ecu
