1st Step get a quote from a Panel Beater then go from there

Not all this what should i do or let his mate fix it!

Is your car insured?

If it is you dont have to pay your excess if it is the other person's fault.

Was you car parked at the time

Do you have witness's ? Thats a big plus with claims but not a witness that was in your car some one else.

Personally, if I hit someone, I'd be sooking about my car, because I have third party property, but no comprehensive for myself :P

Legally he gets no say in it. If youre insured, claim, get it fixed and let them sort it out.

If not insured, get three quotes from shops you like, you dont need to see one of his options. He only has the right to choose from 3 quotes, not where those quotes are obtained.

Whether its been bent before has no bearing on the current matter.

Well if you car was parked then you dont have to pay your excess as its 100% fault of the other guy.

If the guys insurance company ask you to take the car down to their assessing department, dont, as you will get ripped off.

Get 2 Quotes for repairs, insurer's will usually settle on the lower of the 2 quotes.

IF the place where you want the car fixed is the higher of the two quotes get another quote so it comes up as the lower quote.

This is a not at fault claim which has no effect to your rating/no claim bonus and you dont have to pay your excess :

So i guess the other guy was honest and told the truth about the claim and advised that it was his fault - now thats the first hurdle

Just car is underwritten by AAMI - AAMI have preferred repairers

If you got a quote from a repairer and it just happens to be on of their preferred repairers list then there shouldnt be a problem.

Anyway have the asked you to go and get the car assessed at an assessing depo or have they offered to come to where you are and assess your vehicle when you want?

You dont have to go to their preferred repairer
Thats what they make you believe

You can go to any repairer

All you have to do is get an assessor to assess your vehicle which will cost you about $150 but they have to fork out the bill for that

Have you got a quote or 2 quotes for repairs yet?
