Good work dude, it dosnt make a huge difference at stock but its better than the stock airbox.
If you have access to a welder then just make up a simple bracket to hold it in place, otherwise just zip-tie it down. I would always do half-arsed jobs on my car and zip ties kick ****. Dont worry about sucking hot air, when the cars moving its not significant enough to be worrying about. |

track down a EF/EL airbox / scoop setup and mod it to suit, the POD will fit streight into the air box.
The POD filter like that (without a heatshield, or not being enclosed) is a quick way to get your car defective. Good Luck SupahStah

This set up wont be illegal cause it doesnt effect emissions ( no breathers ect to it) and it will not be excessively noisy. The only thing maybee that could be considered unsafe is that it is not secured. If the original airbox has breathers or other emission related equipment running to it then it can be a problem. |

The theory is that if it was to backfire or the like, the filter and other components could catch fire within the engine bay. Even the normal engine heat could help also. The car wont run fantastic anyway, sucking in stail - warm engine bay air. Also, a coppa who pulled me over confirmed this. Luckily I had my pod filter enclosed.

Ring a cop shop and ask them then post the answer, you will find that an un-enclosed pod is illegal and anyone who says I had one and didnt get busted, got lucky is all I can say.

Congratulations.
You've just successfully killed any performance your car had with the hot air you're sucking in.

Some larger pods have an increased suface area over a flat panel and hence should flow better. But if it's out in the open with no cold air feed it will loose peformance. Notice how airbox's on all efi cars have some sort of cold air snorkel. Also if you want to secure the pod on an EA-ED six you can buy a TFI VN commodore pod adaptor or one of those $8 L shape brackets you see hanging near the pods in the shop.

PODs on N/A cars is a ****. A standard airbox, with a clean filter and secure snorkel, will beat an unshielded POD anyday.

i have the same setup on my v8 but i modded up an air box to cover it and block out the engine heat.it also looks stock so the cops cant notice the diff.its just the top and rear then the front is open with a ram air type setup.

A proper setup pod would out flow any panel setup, depends if u wanna spend the $$ and the time to do it right. For somone as mechanicaly challenged as me, it was a 20 min job, but it is easier on a EL though. SupahStah

Before I put on my XH snorkel, I was cruising around without any snorkel for about a week. I didn't mind the sound. It had some intense induction noise, but the hot air situation that others mentioned was very noticable. The car felt more gutless than ever. I'd put the foot down, it would make a lot of noise, but wouldn't build up speed. The XH snorkel is much better, even if it is quieter. Maybe put the POD in an airbox and try to run as thick a pipe as possible to the grille or front air dam.
