Alan only had enough budget to run 1 car in '79 so I'm not sure whether the No. 2 car was sold or leased out. Dan Bowden would know the answer.

I own a replica of the Fed car car and can confirm all this to be true in doing my research.

Yep, as above.

I believe there was only ever 1 actual Cobra that did race at Bathurst. It ran in 1979 carrying race #35 driven by Parsons/Radbold. It was painted with Red stripes instead of blue. I heard it was a Cobra number in the low 200 range and was returned to road going trim.

I heard it still survives.

about 30 or more years ago my grandfather owned cobra #39, this car was bought brand-new (original owners). according to most of the posts it hasn't been found. If anyone could help me locate it or give any details i would be most appreciative. The last my family heard about it, it was in VIC. This car meant so much to our family and for us to know that she is still dominating the roads would mean the world.

Went and looked at #341 today. Looks to be the real deal, numbers matching etc. It's a going, registerable concern that recently changed hands out of Victoria.

One of the school dads had a Cobra when new . He was a farmer from Eneabba WA and I think had a house in Greenmount.
It was just the greatest thing to see when he came to pick up the kids.
We would just stare and walk all around it.
I was to young to ask about numbers but the car is etched in my memory.
I often wonder what happened to it . Their last name was Appleyard if anyone has ownership manual.

Saw no.081 going by his numberplates on the streets of Perth a few weeks back.
And as for Tropic Golds above post, I have a similar memory of a kid getting dropped off for school in a Cobra back in the early eighties in Perth. Always left an impression on me.

Only just found this.

I had 181 and sold it to a copper in Colac Vic in 1993.

Would love to know it's whereabouts, I see it's on the list here.

351, FMX, ac, pwr steer and pwr windows.

Guess they are not willing to sell it either? Such a shame to hear, sure they can do what ever they want with it, it is theirs, but at least garage it.

As per earlier posts, it would be interesting to see if the car was written off (beyond repair) or not.

We have just purchased #174 from northern NSW. Now resides in Perth. Pretty decent condition but a few things to tidy up.
If anyone knows anything on the history of this car, would love to hear about it.

Time for a sandgroper update:

Confirming 148, 256 and 266 are licenced and cruising the streets of Perth, Western Australia. 10 and 173 are currently being restored.

I see you already have 47, 63, 87, 90, 235, 287 and 293 on the list.

There's also two more genuine Cobras but I haven't managed to grab their numbers yet:

45 was sold in May 2015 and has moved East. 54 was listed for sale for most of 2014 so may have also moved East. I haven't seen 94 for a while but it was listed for sale in Jan 2014 on Gumtree. 83 was in Perth at the All Ford Day in 2013 but hasn't been seen since. 164 was also listed for sale in May 2015, current whereabouts unknown.

There's still a few unknown numbered Cobras on the radar but there's at least another three original Cobras in the West!

So 17's not a bad count for genuine Cobras residing in the WA.

I was the second owner of Cobra #161, I was told it had belonged to a speedway driver from newcastle, nsw before me.#161 died way back in 1979 i think it was, when i hit a single decker bus pulling out from kerb.i remember being told the chassis had bent and cracked and the body had 4 non repairable creases.it went to auction and fetched $1300 from memory. So maybe its a Doner car somewhere (who knows).

I saw a cobra yesterday on the north side of Brisbane yesterday. Don't no what number it is, but it reminded me of a mate from school who's dad bought one in the late eighties, that was in pieces and was going to restore. Why I am posting is, I am wondering if they did restore it? It was in Camden nsw.
