New requirements for drivers under 26 years

From 1 January 2007, all drivers under the age of 26 are required to carry their drivers licence with them when driving or penalties will apply. These changes are part of the first stage of Victoria’s new Graduated Licensing System to help improve the safety of young drivers. Further changes will be implemented over the next 2 years.

Don't you already get fined for not having your license on you? Can't picture how it'll make you a safer driver just having your license on you~ I guess in 4 years time, this new 'rule' won't apply to me eh :P?

I've looked on arrivealive and can't find any more new regulations... any got a link for me?

I know in SA its my unerstanding you must carry your drivers licence on you. But it would be several years ago that a driver on there full licence had 24 hours to produce it from memory.

The restriction will prevent probationary drivers from driving vehicles with:

* engines with eight or more cylinders
* turbocharged or supercharged engines
* nominated high performance six cylinder engines
* engines that have been modified to increase the vehicle’s performance.

not that easy unfortunatley! They wont call in a licence number without the licence (photo ID). Happened to a mate just last week...

Regardless they will run your name/no to see if you licensed...Ive been let off with out having my license on me...and ive also been fined $150 for not having it on me

I was always under the assumption you needed to carry your licence with you and it was illegal if you didn't?? Guess I've been cautious all these years for nothing!
