Default HDD DVD Recorders

looking at buying HDD DVD recorder, can you record old VHS to the hard drive then edit and burn to DVD?
What sort of features should I look for, Thanks

Yeah you can dub over the VHS to the HDD and edit it. Mine takes standard RCA in and DV in. I basically look for the biggest hard drive I can find and something that plays EVERYTHING standard and format wise.

And try and get a true twin tuner. Tape 2 shows and watch a 3rd. Some are marketed as twin tuners but are only 1.5 really.

Other thing to remember is that a lot of pre-recorded VHS movies have macro-vision protection meaning you are unable to dub these successfully. Your own recordings have no such issue though. Check the Panasonic DMR-EH55 or the Pioneer DVR-540H for a good choice.

the pioneer one is pretty good from what ive heard, the sonys are a bit behind the game with there single SD tuner that they bring to oz

HDD recorders are pretty good though ive been looking at the SVRhd900 from sony, which al;ows you to record in HD. now just drop in price!!!!!!!!!

Blu-ray seems to be winning the format war against HD DVD, I would go with one of them.

I have a panasonic as well. Macrovision seems to be hit and miss, some of them will throw up that it's copy protected and others will just flash the screen so it's annoying to watch.

If it's not copy protected tapes, no problem. Works a treat.
