Fuel/km's For An Escort

Hey guys, just picked up a 1980 Ford Escort GL 2.0 Litre 4 speed manual, just wanted to know what fuel you guys run and how many k's per tank? Petrol gauge is playing up a bit! Cheers

I run BP98. The super fuel we all used to buy was 96 octane, so generic premium at 95 octane is abit low and you car can ping using it. Also I get about 400km's per tank.

City driving I think i'd get about 450 ish a tank.
At the moment with some good long highway driving and a bit of city driving I am on 420km with a quater of a tank left.
I think pure highway driving could get about 600ish from the 56 liter tank.

i get about 400ks outta my 56l tank on hiway..
heaps less through town.

Do you add lead replacement additive to the 98 octane?

if ya unsure, just do it.
i run mine on 98 whenever i can, 95 at worst.
i got hardened valve seats, so i dont need additive

Just been running it on shell 95 and has been going great, hopefully my shed gets finished this week so i can get in there and detail it, hopefully post some pics early next week

That was based on a trip to bendigo and back from melbourne (280km ish round trip) and less than half a tank was used.

I use flash lube lead replacement and 95 octane (shells vpower? on the trip above).

is that a stock engine?
mines had some work done to the head, so yeah, ill never get good economy. [my right foots heavier than my left too ;)]
vpower is 98octane.

The engine has been rebuilt before I got it, I havn't done any work to it, so I don't know what's been done. My right foot dosn't do much stomping (-:

I'm going up to bendigo again tomorrow so i'll see how it goes (BP 95).

Sorry for dragging this on, but above i've been meant to be saying vortex, not vpower (doh)

Also hit 315km for half a tank (240 freeway, 75 short trips)

Nah, I have my valve train setup for unleaded.

My gauge is a bit dodgy to (stops working at about 2/3s of a tank) so i just set the trip metre when i fill im getting about 10.5l/p100ks round town & having fun motor standardish
