so they've mad you favourite drug weaker ! build a bridge FFS there are far more important thing to whinge about thant the strength and cost of drugs . but this is typical of our drug f*#&ed nation. more social harm is caused by alcohol than all the illegal drugs combined but if you read about moves to reduce consumption of these you would say " good move we need to get rid of drugs". well here is an effort to reduce harm by a legal drug and although missguided and unlikely to be effective as cheaper options are available the government are quite within their rights to try to reduce the harm caused by this heavily abused drug

First of all, I understand exactly where you are coming from.

However, the people heavily affected and afflicted by the results of alcohol are in a minority compared to those who just enjoy a social drink, or getting a little bit tipsy every now and then. Instead of making everyone pay high amounts for alcohol, why not try help those with the problems more?

By putting up the prices, you could very well be pricing the lower socio-economic group out of buying the drinks which could cause more crime, in them trying to obtain money to buy booze.

I dunno, I know EXACTLY what I'm trying to say here but I'm really having trouble putting it to words for the forum sorry.

uh yeah. And I can BET with certainty they will not drop to the same as they were before. No way in hell. Instead of the 18 bucks a 6 pack for certain mixes, it will be 20 or 22....
They'll drop the alcopops and raise the spirits. I can't buy any of it anymore too bloody expensive on an apprentice rate with house payments.
I bought two 30litre beer fermenters and I brew about 50-75 litres of beer a fortnight. Tastes better, can customize with flavours a lot more. $20 bucks gets over 2 cartons of beer....spirits fermenter soon.....

What if the bill doesn't get passed? I'd like to know how the tax will then be returned?

Well my last grog run went from $16,940 and that was before Xmas
to the one I just put in 3 weeks ago . all the same stuff $24,873.

The tax should go but you will find a lot of the bigger clubs will not drop there price and if they do it will only be very little.

That $5 bottle or cask of wine is looking pretty damn good right now, you tax the alcopops, the kids move onto the wine.

Of course! Back in the 80's they weren't available and we still managed to slam ourselves on a plethora of cheap spirits, wines and mixes ........ and they are still available at very cheap prices. Its just trendy now to bring out the premixes ...

Should just revert to petrol ..... $1.60 a litre, apparently gives you a hell of a kick, damn cheap in comparison and if any left over will get you home!
