Default No more Dyno Dynamics

Have been reading on several other forums that Dyno Dynamics have closed up

http://www.caplink.com.au/index.php?pageID=28

https://system.netsuite.com/core/med...f&cktime=79178

Not good for our industry, possibly some of their dyno users may be able to shed some light on this

The parent Company (Allomak) has clearly been having some torrid times of late with a restructure of the Board, Management and a refinancing plan plus substantial losses in 08-09 and $7m worth of legal action against the former MD.

Certainly their announcement to the ASX that they were withdrawing support to DD has placed them in the hands of Administrators but this doesn't necessarily yet translate to an end for them. One of the problems of investment type companies like Allomak is that they add another layer of costs to the management of the businesses they buy that can result in a loss of profitability for what were (before acquistion) profitably run by entrepreneurs. Proof of that point comes with the announcement by Allomak that they had reduced their FTE headcount by 109 people!

It will be up to the Administrators in conjunction with the DD management to determine if there is sufficient grounds for continuing as a trading entity and that in turn may well depend on how much value Allomak stripped out of the business during their (relatively) brief tenure at the helm.

It would be nice to think that they could continue.

Cheers
Russ

It would be good if somebody else would take them over and continue the business, a little competition between brands can be a good thing

This is bad bad news for me- I'm expecting an upgrade to our engine dyno at uni so I can tune next years race engine. Hope it still happens- not sure how long our current one will last. We're supposed to be getting a brand new unit or two in our new engineering workshop building at the end of next year but I guess that's all going to change now.

LP Gas 1 is gone as well. I see stickers on cars all over the joint I had no idea that it was tied to this corporation. Thats the problem when a company gets too big without the proper executives at the helm.

Australia’s Premier Dyno Manufacturer - Dyno Dynamics Are Back In Business

Australia’s most recognised chassis and engine dynamometer manufacturing company, Dyno Dynamics, is back in business with their Melbourne based headquarters now in full swing.

The iconic automotive brand has been purchased by well known motoring identity Alan Evans (former President of the Australia Automobile Association, President of the NRMA, Chairman of Rally Australia), former National Sales Manager of Dyno Dynamics Terry McDonald as well as the company’s North American Agent, Steve Nichols.

After a period of turbulence when Dyno Dynamics was part of the Allomak family of businesses, it has now been given a hefty injection of capital by the trio and normal operations have begun.

“Dyno Dynamics made such great dynos that we just had to make sure it was returned to its former glory,” said Alan Evans.

“Fortunately we have been able to retain the services of key staff that will build our entire range of dynos to the standard and quality for which the brand has become renowned for. This will also ensure areas like quality control and service support are maintained at the highest level.”

The benefits of the resurrection of Dyno Dynamics don’t stop with the immediate availability of new dynos but existing owners of Dyno Dynamics’ products will also prosper – “Full service support for all existing Dyno Dynamics products has resumed and we encourage all owners to contact us to register their products with our service team.”

Commenting on the issue of warranty claims for products sold by the previous company, Evans added “Whilst we’re obviously not in a position to honour warranty claims from sales made by the previous owners, we would like to stress that we are happy to look at all warranty issues and will assess them on a case-by-case basis.”

Production has already begun with the first Dyno Dynamics dyno built under the new management being delivered on Australia Day and according to Alan Evans, there are more announcements to come – “Already we are busy working on the new designs to keep Dyno Dynamics at the leading edge of dynamometer development and also developing some exciting new upgrades for existing dynos which we expect to release to the market within the next three months.”

Existing Dyno Dynamics owners who need service or parts are encouraged to call Service Technician Gerrard Rattigan on 03 9735 8900. Customers wishing to purchase new Dyno Dynamics products or to enquire about the range should call Terry McDonald on the same number.

This is very good news for the uni racing team I'm a part of. We were looking at upgrading or replacing our engine dyno when our workshop moves into the new building at uni. For a while there we were worried we'd have to get a whole new setup and learn how to use a completely new system. Stoked
