Default XR4 exhaust restriction

ive been told theres a 40mm exhaust restriction in the XR4's exhausts from factory.
but its not visible from the exterior of exhaust, as its 60mm O.D. with 40mm I.D.

looking to get this cut out and some exhaust flexi-pipe put in its place.

does anybody have an exact position of where this is in the exhaust system?
before Cat? after cat? etc

cheers

I think you will find the flexi is the restriction, as this is the bit they get changed first!

Cheers

The Flexi Pipe itself is the restriction, it has an internal diameter of 40mm whereas the rest of the exhaust is 60mm ... Ford deliberately did this to keep the car under 150hp to cater for the stict Insurance regulations in some European Countries hence allowing it's target market to actually purchase the car.

Replacing the stock Flexi Pipe with an aftermarket one with a 60mm internal is one of the most common modifications done to the Fiesta ST/XR4.

Probably the most popular make people buy is the Miltek one available over the net from European and UK sites such as ..

I believe Best Mufflers in Sydney also makes a good aftermarket one for the XR4, a few of the guys that have purchased them have been very happy ... here's a link to a thread about them ..
