Default Traffic infringement Notice

Hi guys ,
The story is i bought a car from W.A and had it shipped to Vic A few weeks later I got a bill for the transfer fee it was $200 Now the car had less then a Months rego left .
I thought buggerd if im paying $242 for a few weeks rego . When i need to pay for a roadworthy ,stamp duty and rego for victoria .
I brought it up with a mate and he said you dont need to pay it just forget about it. Well now i got another letter this time for $350 same fee plus penalty for not paying. There no option on the letter for dispute there just an option to go to court .So now im not sure where i stand .

Dont understand where any infringement comes into this.
You mention transfer fees, RWC, etc and then some extra penalty for not paying something you didnt mention.

Who got the infringement, what was it for, where was it and when was it?

Snappy, assume you mean a bill from the Dept. of Transport in WA. Probably best to phone them and explain your situation. The phone number for Vehicle & Driver Licensing Enquiries is 131156. They are open 8:00am to 5:00pm Mon-Fri Perth Time (two hours behind you guys). Be prepared to be on hold for a while.

The transfer fee is not the rego its a State tax or duty based on the value of the vehicle on transfer of the vehicle. See http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20417.asp and http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/1382.asp
http://www.dtf.wa.gov.au/cms/content.aspx?id=2053

As you know there is no0 escape from death or taxes and you have to pay it and the penalty. As that site says: "You must pay the invoice within 28 days of it being issued or a penalty will apply."

You can lodge an objection with the State Revenue Section of the WA Department of Treasury and Finance if you think the vehicle was overvalued but I wouldn't be optimistic. You could also try objecting on the basis that you are not a WA resident - it won't work but they may waive the penalty if you can convince them you genuinely didn't think you had to pay it. Good luck.

Thanks Guys ,
Davway i got the infringement for not paying the vechicle licensing so i assume in victoria that translates into rego , aussiblue the transfer fee was on $14 or somthing small . An the roadworthy, stamp duty and rego is what vic roads here want .

In a nutshell it would cost me $200 + for 3 weeks rego (W.A) or just $500 for 12 months in vic so i choose the later and because i didn't pay the W A transfer fee and reg because i payed it in vic . Now W.A have fined me $100 .

Anyway i forgot today W.A is 2 hours behind so i call them after work tomorow thank aussie av
