The problem with ads like these though is that people see them once and the shock value might slow them down for a bit.

Then they gradually forget and go back to their old ways, and seeing it a second, third, fourth, fifth time doesn't have the same effect as the first time, you end up desensitised to the ad.

The fact it has been posted here before, people now click on it and "oh look, its that ad again", and don't take any notice.

I agree that road safety is a serious matter and I know you were trying to do the right thing by posting it, but it has been posted numerous times before including recently if memory serves me correctly, and a lot of people here have seen it and will have the attitude of "seen it".

Why is his reply stupid?, and is there really any need for comments like that above?
If you had done a search you would have discovered this!

Ads arent going to teach anyone anything.
Youd be lucky to find one person that hasnt broken one single road rule since watching this the FIRST time it was posted 6 months ago.

wow, it really does make you think how much you can affect others with your own driving. Not that i didn't know that before, we've had a number of deaths just over the past 6 months on the highway near the town i live in but i think that is one of the very few better ads by the government.

Well done to whoever put it together.

Yes same here. Although I can remember almost every ad in this mix being on tv over the years, I've never seen this compilation, and it is very shocking and sad.

And to the OP, thanks for posting it, and take no notice of criticism about it being a re-post, it was important to you, and I'm sure many others like myself have not seen it so glad you 'reposted' it

I've seen it many times. It makes you think. For about 60 seconds till you walk away and do something else. Yes wow, it's and add designed to show people what can happen. But one thing you can't do is change human behaviour. And you will never get that from watching some ad on tele.

But thanks for posting it. Even thou it is several years old

Yet another re-appearance of the spin campaign.

You must understand that the reduction in the road toll over the last 20 years has nothing to do with increase in the safety technology in cars or the increase in availability of alternative forms of transport including the universal take up of mobile phones to communicate with either public or private transport.

Road safety is not supposed to be a profit centre.......

Pfff so what if the road toll as more then halved since these ads began. Everyone knows speed cameras are the real reason behind the reduced road toll.

Airbags, crumple zones, ABS, TCS, ESP, all those things are just fancy sale words, and do not save lives. Only an inconspicuous car parked on the side of the road will save lives.

There is probably more actual crashes these days then there was 20 years ago, But due to better cars, the Fatality number has reduced.

I'll watch it only if you watch a giant video I made that goes for 20 hours about all the things in life that can kill you. It's apart of a 200 part series.

JKS

but you get my meaning. So many things in life can kill you... and it gets shoved in our face everyday... Is anyone else getting sick of the ongoing dangerous driving campaign by the gov to make excuses for their revenue raising? We all know it's dangerous, so why isn't the government doing something REAL to change things? Half-assed profiteers.

Ad does nothing for me.

Good intentions don't mean a great result.

People die everyday, its a fact of life either get smarter and more aware then the next person or risk being left behind or being dead.

After doing 200+kmh more times than I can count and not falling off the road and dieing, having the brain power to know there is a TIME and PLACE and also having some self preservation skills are of more value than any ad.

Good post mate, our family has been touched by the road toll, these ads are gut wrenching.

No one on here is above being reminded about safe driving, get off his back.

safe driving this Xmas,

Chris

If governments used a portion of all revenue for education, the numbers may drop.
Scare campaigns do not work, generally if you see something horrible you try to forget it as quick as possible.
These ads are aimed at adults though millions of kids go to sleep now scared every time their parents go to the shops.
Time for a new approach IMO

Here's something the Govt should try...

Get a bunch of intoxicated people in a room to watch this commercial in it's entirety, then afterwards, ask them how they feel about driving under the influence...

Do you think the message will get through to them?....of course not!

It is well done. I'm all for hard hitting adds. Love the "wish I could have my heart attack again" add to. It might help someone somewhere.
