is it ok to fit a throttle return spring onto both sides of the DCOE carb without causing problems to central shafts and all that jazz... can provide a diagram if wanted?

I've got dual DCOE's on my Lotus with springs and actuation from the middle, so I cant see why springs at both ends of single application would not work.

Do it.

Just one question, why not run a DCV from a GT?

Dual return springs used to be compulsory in super sprints and club days. I ran a spring on both sides of the DCOE on my Cooper S Sports sedan and on the 48 IDA on my RX3 with no problems at all.
